I had a family member tell me that I should not drink soda that it causes bone cancer..through my research I can not find any information on that…would anyone know if there is any truth to
this belief.|||Some of the flavouring and colouring in soft drinks have been linked to cancer (110, 102 etc.). Some countries have actually banned them, others feel that it%26#039;s too little added to have a strong enough effect.
However, as to just soda water =%26gt; it%26#039;s basically only water with carbon dioxide gas. I don%26#039;t think that should give you cancer.
Maybe instead of searching for information under SODA, search for SOFT DRINKS or CARBONATED DRINKS.|||No it doesn%26#039;t but it will rot out your teeth|||I%26#039;m not too sure whether it will cause bone cancer. But it will decrease the calcium level of ur bones. Too much soda can be one of the factors of stomach cancer though. REmeber a healthy diet is a good way to prevent cancer.|||No, not that I know of, at least not specifically bone cancer.
However, there have been reports on possible carcinogens (that is apart from studies on aspartame as carcinogen) in soft drinks. Here is the link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_drink
It says that 79% of soft drinks contained levels of benzene (a known carcinogen) above the recommended limit for drinking water established by the WHO. The levels were not considered dangerous though.
But the main danger of soft drinks is that if you have way too much it can make you overweight, possibly with type 2 diabetes.
