i am also a enlarged prostate sufferer …
I found lots of info in this site …
I am regularly taking Xatral 10ml tablets for over 2 years and the prostate remains the same size.
every now and then i stop the tablets for few days, then the blockage start again, and the tablets do the work …
Get more that one doctors opinion.
The first doctor i saw, he wanted to operate soon.
The second i saw i actually I told him that i read about this and that and he say, ok.lets try.
Just get a complete analisys and get the results YOURSELF, then go to at least two doctors and ASK for an opinion.
Read as much as you can so you will be able to ASK intelligent questions.|||Do you think there is a magic person out there with a treatment they will not share? There are treatment options, aggressive vs. less rigorous and more quality of life.
All other things being equal, and I promise you no one hides a successful treatment from others, go with a personality you like.
Yes, he could, but you need more information. First, get another PSA to confirm the first one. Second, have a physical examination of the prostate, preferably by a urologist. Many other things can cause an increased PSA. I have seen PSAs higher than this on many occasions in patients who do not have prostate cancer. More important than the absolute level of PSA is the RATE at which it rises from one specimen to the next. Rapid rises are worrisome. This is the reason it is a good idea to have an annual PSA, so that the rate of increase, if any, can be studied from year to year. Interpreting PSA results is a notoriously difficult topic because many patients with high PSAs do not have cancer and many with normal PSAs have cancer, a fact that has led one leading expert to abandon using PSA and instead relying on annual physical examination of the prostate by rectal palpation (feeling the prostate through the anus).|||I dont really know but thats sure alot of points!|||He had to go to doctor to get that number. It seems to me that the high number should have concerned his doctor and he would have given him a biopsy if he thought he had cancer|||PSA stands for prostate specific antigen, which is produced in a healthy individual. A value of 9 is slightly higher than average, but the number alone does not define a diagnosis of cancer. An elevated PSA will also occur when the prostate is inflamed (infection) or when the prostate is enlarged (another very common male occurrance).
Your father%26#039;s doctor will probably recommend one of two things, depending on his overall health and physical examination. Either he will repeat the test in 3-6 months to see if that is a consistant reading, or he will recommend a biopsy of the prostate. If his plan is to repeat the test, he may prescribe a medication during the wait time.
I%26#039;ve linked the PSA factsheet from The National Cancer Institute. It has good information to help you understand the situation. If indeed it turns out to be a cancer situation, just remember… prostate cancer is very slow growing (so don%26#039;t worry about a wait to retest before biopsy) and very curable.
Best wishes to you and your father.|||He certainly could. Anything over 4 is cause for concern. He will need a biopsy to be sure. PSA counts aren%26#039;t all that reliable. Don%26#039;t worry, there%26#039;s lots that can be done. Even if he did have it, prostate cancer is usually slow moving and relatively easy to deal with.|||sure he could but he needs a urologist and most likely a biopsy
TNM is a staging system used to codify prostate cancer into grades and stages so accurate decisions can be made in regards to treatments and also prognosis. All types of cancer have similar grading systems with individual tweaks for the particular cancer being staged.
http://www.upmccancercenters.com/cancer/…
Clark%26#039;s level is another grading system that helps grade the level of tumor invasion into the surrounding tissue. Clark%26#039;s level is more commonly used with melanoma. With prostate cancer Clark%26#039;s level could be used to indicate whether the cancer was confined to the prostate gland or had spread.

You know, your child is going to be most unhappy when you tell him where his marbles are…………|||i dont think it helps|||No the bigger the better, but we reserve the right to laugh at you when you can%26#039;t retrieve that bottle you%26#039;ve been looking at.|||They also go loose with over use. Please stop shoving things in your anal region.|||sicko|||Putting anything in your anus can be dangerous.
The anus has the ability to actually suck objects deep into the bowel. This requires a trip to Accident and Emergency. And a fair amount of pain and discomfort to get out, not to speak of the shame.
I saw a documentary where a specialist said that if you want to do something like this, ensure it is in a condom, and make sure it has a large base that will not easily disappear in your never-regions.
An alternative would be anal beads. They are inserted into the anus slowly one bead at a time - in single file - leaving the ring outside. After all, you need something to pull them out with. (see intimategoodies).
As far as a loose Sphinchter….squeeze it tight and relax, a Sphinchter work out. This will keep it healthy.
there has been no relationship to prostate cancer and anal sex.|||The good news is that you won%26#039;t get prostate cancer from anal play. The bad news is that marbles are extremely dangerous. They can become lodged internally, which would require a trip to the emergency room — not going to be fun, I guarantee. Because they are marbles, there would be no way for the body to process them or even break them down. It would be very dangerous.
I suggest anal beads. They will most resemble the sensation you are getting from marbles. As for the loose sphincter… no, not typically. Men who participate in hardcore sex acts like fisting do experience a looser anus, and that can cause many problems later in life. But if you just use average sized things like sex toys, penises, etc you will not have any problems with the tightness.
Play safe and have fun! The anus is equipped with thousands of sensitive nerve endings for your pleasure, and the prostate is the male g-spot. You were born with these for a reason, so enjoy them.
Many men, even straight ones, love anal play.
Here%26#039;s a cure fpr prostate cancer. Far less painful than radiation.
http://dgwa1.fortunecity.com/body/cancer…|||Most probably you have mistaken it for TIFU which is infact HIFU ie. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound which can be used to destroy prostate cancer with good accuracy. It is not radiation treatment and infact works by causing very high temparature locally within the prostate, destroying the tissue / cancer by just heat NOT radiation.
Highly studied and well established ways of treatment for prostate cancer are : 1) Prostatectomy 2a) Radiotherapy with external beam and 2b) Brachytherapy ie. internal radiotherapy
HIFU is being claimed as a curative approach but depends on the centre%26#039;s / operator%26#039;s experience and credibility
Masturbation…

Drop me line at celenaper@yahoo.com and I can get you the link to getting it real cheap.
I helped my father- in-law big time.
He was getting up 4-5 times a night to urinate because of his swelling prostate. Not anymore!
Wittgenstein died OF prostate cancer. Lots of men have died OF prostate cancer. just more feminist BS. Nothing to see here.|||Totally anecdotal - but my Grandpa died of it. Grandma survived breast cancer and died many years later. Cancer is a bummer, isn%26#039;t it?|||If men died %26#039;with%26#039; prostrate cancer it would suggest that that is not what killed them, but rather something else.
If prostrate cancer is what kills them then they die %26#039;of%26#039; it.
For example someone WITH AIDS may die OF pneumonia.|||i worked in the field of cancer for nearly 5 years. i was trained by nci.
here is just one excerpt, i simply did a search. note it says %26quot;most doctors say….%26quot;
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.ht…
%26quot;The disease is usually languorous, with tumors that can grow so slowly they would go unnoticed were it not for cancer screening that detects growths too small to feel. Doctors frequently say that most men die with prostate cancer, not of it. Dr. Barry, who is chief of the general medicine unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, explained, %26#039;%26#039;We know at autopsy that more than half of older men have some prostate cancer.%26#039;%26#039; But only 3 percent of men die of it, he added. %26#039;%26#039;We are clearly finding prostate cancers that are not destined to kill.%26#039;%26#039;
Here is a quote from the NCI%26#039;s Physican Data Query -
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/t…
%26quot;Because the median age at diagnosis is 72 years, many patients—especially those with localized tumors—may die of other illnesses without ever having suffered significant disability from the cancer. The approach to treatment is influenced by age and coexisting medical problems. Side effects of various forms of treatment should be considered in selecting appropriate management. %26quot;
Jim- I refuse to look at what NCI is saying? I worked with them for 5 years. I included a quote from the NCI web site. Yes, you will find discrepancies, but the point is most doctors concur men die %26#039;with%26#039; the disease, not %26quot;of%26quot; it - no matter what the numbers, they say the same thing. (over %26amp; over)
ACCORDING to NCI, 27,050 men die of prostate cancer and 40,460 women die of breast cancer, 450 men die of breast cancer.
I would think the NCI has better stats than BBC - (is BBC giving stats for britain or usa.)
enough already.
you wanna attack women, go ahead…|||Estimated new cases and deaths from prostate cancer in the United States in 2007:
New cases: 218,890
Deaths: 27,050
From NCI;s main web page. See Jo you repeat a 3% number from one doctor, but refuse to look at what the NCI is stating.
What kinds of lies and misinformation can you tell me about melanoma?.|||Age: Age is the main risk factor for prostate cancer. This disease is rare in men younger than 45. The chance of getting it goes up sharply as a man gets older. In the United States, most men with prostate cancer are older than 65.
Age: The chance of getting breast cancer goes up as a woman gets older. Most cases of breast cancer occur in women over 60. This disease is not common before menopause.
And women live longer than men anyway - at least 5 years for many reasons, not the least of which is because women tend to take far better care of their health throughout their lives. They have fewer bad habits (drinking, smoking, etc) and are much more apt to follow %26#039;doctor%26#039;s orders%26#039;.
Try: G-O-O-G-L-E
Why can%26#039;t you kids find things on your own?
edit:
%26quot;more men die OF prostate cancer than women do of breast cancer.%26quot; - Yes, and these guys are over 65 years of age. They are much older than the women who die of breast cancer. Older people age at an ACCELERATED RATE: check it out for yourself (I will stop spoonfeeding you). It%26#039;s kinda like %26#039;dog years%26#039; vs %26#039;human years%26#039;, ok?

could you give me a sense of how hell get in the end and anything special i can do|||wow never knew they could get that……so sorry to hear that your dog has it………..take care and I hope you can let him go before he suffers too much.
Regards|||Our family dog just died of prostate cancer. He was taking longer and longer to urinate. He started to drip a little bit after he was done, so we fashioned a sort of diaper for him using a piece of material and elastic, attaching the elastic with velcro (one piece of elastic at the front of the %26quot;diaper%26quot; and one at the back), then we put a maxipad on the material and changed that every so often. The doctor also prescribed him some painkillers which we put in a treat to feed him once or twice a day. I was away at school when he finally reached the end, but my mom said he started retaining water, and that%26#039;s when they put him down.
I%26#039;m so sorry your dog is ill
I know how sad it can be. Just try to keep him as comfortable as possible. Give him lots of love and treats.|||My dog was just recently diagnosed with a prostate tumor. A biopsy revealed it is cancer. I%26#039;ve been to three vets, but unfortunately, none have given me a very good prognosis. We are starting radiation therapy on Tuesday. We are not giving up hope just yet, and I suggest you don%26#039;t either. There is a great book to read %26quot; The Nature of Animal Healing%26quot; by a vet Martin Goldstien. I bought it online for 10.88. He has a practice in South Salem NY. We are in Philly. Its a long drive to his office, but we are taking our dogboy there next Friday. I believe if we can build our dog%26#039;s immune system, perhaps we can at least stem or slow the growth of the tumor. I suggest you keep a positive outlook. Do lots of research and don%26#039;t give up without a fight. Keep a strong faith and love your pet as long as you can. Be strong for him or her. They sense our fear.
