I personally knew one guy with stage 4 prostate cancer who after failing other chemo treatments started on taxol and went into remission. This was about 7-8 years ago and I%26#039;ve moved since then and only know that he was still doing ok about 4 years ago. He went back to working 40hrs a week driving a log truck and before he started the taxol I was sure he was a goner. I hope this gives you hope. At the time taxol was not even used for prostate cancer, only breast cancer, and the taxol was a last ditch treatment that worked out great.|||For the men whose cancer has already spread to distant parts of the body when it is found, 34% will survive at least five years.

AFTER SURGURY,THE NERVES WERE CUT,CANNOT CONTROL URINE OUTFLOW THAT WELL AND CANNOT FEEL WHEN THE FLOW STARTS.GET FUSTRATING AT TIMES BUT I GUESS I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT|||This should not be an issue that you would be required to write down on an application. No one else needs to know except you, so shoot for the stars!! Apply for any job you want, that is how I feel. An employer can not refuse to hire you due to any type of disability, it%26#039;s called descrimination- so if they do, sue them and get rich %26amp; you wont have to work!!

its not true.|||Prostrate cancer is most common in men over 50 which is when testing occurs. Genetic background is also a factor as in the US it is more common and more deadly amongst black men than white men or Hispanics. Having a father or brother with the disease is also a risk factor with a couple of genes believed responsible. You can reduce the risk by increasing intake of Vitamin E (green, leafy vegetables) lycopene (tomatoes) and Omega-3 fatty acids (fish).

Prostate cancer testing is normally recommended for men over although the presence of risk factors can lead to earlier screening. There are usually no early detectable symptoms although screening will pick up increased levels of prostate specific antigen or PSA.

Possible symptoms as the disease worsens include frequent urination, increased urination at night, difficulty starting and maintaining a steady stream of urine, blood in the urine, and painful urination. Prostate cancer may also cause problems with sexual function, such as difficulty achieving erection or painful ejaculation.

Advanced prostate cancer will cause additional symptoms as the pain spreads.|||While i don%26#039;t know whether that is true, you should definitely get a DRE (digital rectal exam) once you are 40.|||We are all prone to some disease because of what we eat, the chemicals in our foods, the air we breath, the pollution, gases, etc.

Visit www.Oly4TheHealingJuice.com,

read about the Xanthones in this fruit and how it helps with some of this issues.

click on testimonies and read about prostate cancer,

read about the challenge !! Try it, that is all i say, it might help.|||I was 51 years old when I was operated on for prostate cancer. I know several guys who were younger than me.

Best advice, starting testing at 40-45 years old. A simple digital rectal exam and PSA, while not perfect, can help with early detection.

My PSA was only 3.6! That is not high. But, the doctor saw a rise of 3 tests (2 years in total) of more than .75 in each test, so I had a biopsy and sure enough, cancer.

No, u shouldn%26#039;t roast them because it alters their chemistry and won%26#039;t be as effective.|||yes you can roast them|||%26quot;Can the nuts be roasted…?%26quot; Are you referring to the Brazil nuts or the prostate?|||I%26#039;ve never heard of roasting them. They taste great the way they are. Roasting may remove some of the benefits so, I would just eat them the way they are.|||Roasting your nuts does not prevent prostate cancer.|||Are your facts accurate? And does roasting have an affect on the nuts nutritional value? I would say yes.

Alpha-linolenic acid is a fatty acid found in many foods. Most, but not all, studies have found that high dietary or blood levels of alpha-linolenic acid correlate with an increased risk of prostate cancer. There is no convincing evidence, however, that this association reflects a cause-effect relationship. Concentrations of alpha-linolenic acid are high in almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, flaxseed, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts. Many health benefits have been attributed to eating nuts, and the available evidence does not suggest that people attempting to prevent prostate cancer should avoid nuts.

Relax. Implanted radioactive seeds have a very short life span. And while the person has the seeds implanted they will be in isolation. So visits will be a no no until the seeds are removed after about ten days. The operation is called oncoseed induction and is highly sucessful.|||And you ask someone one here. How silly. Call a doctor dummy.

How much radiation do you think they put in that person. How ignorant can people get?|||It will only affect the person with the seeds.

yup, but it will heighten the risk of skin cancer since it%26#039;ll get irritated more often..|||Yes|||man your need to go back to school .are you just trying to be funny.the to have nothing to do with each other|||Every organ functions much better if you use it. And it%26#039;s not funny. For example if doctors will feed you only intravenouosly, your digestive system will be damaged. The same is with prostata. Better let the semen to go out, don%26#039;t keep it inside for many days|||Where did you read such stupidity??

If it’s true…then… the most part of guys will have cancer even!!

Please, ejaculate without problem and every time you want!!

I just think that the contrary issue could be true!

It has been determined that it has moved into his lymph nodes. In my understanding this is pretty much a death sentence. Any idea how long he might have?|||No one here knows the answer to this question. His treatment and survival may come as a total shock to you. Aggressive cancers and stage IV are not a death sentence. They are just more difficult to treat. I know this is true because my son was diagnosed two years ago with one of the most aggressive sarcomas known. He had multiple tumors within the abdominal cavity, some the size of volley balls. He also had lympth node involvment, tumors in the lung, liver, chest wall, large and small intestine, and caked onto the diaphragm. He has done remarkably well considering what we originally heard, but not without alot of work.

Do not give up. Do not look at statistics as they never apply to an individual. Cancer is a very individual disease and survival will depend upon many, many factors. It will depend on the age of the patient, response to treatment, overall health issues, location of the tumors, and attitude. There is always hope.

Be strong. Are you aware that Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with stage IV testicular cancer with mets to the brain? That was 10 years ago, and look at him now.

LiveStrong Foundation

http://www.livestrong.org/|||Good luck to you and your son. I can%26#039;t even imagine going through something like that with my child. You%26#039;re in my prayers. Report It
|||No,…… that really sad though… :-( I%26#039;m sorry|||I don%26#039;t really believe you can put a Definite date on his death or even an estimate.

My g-pa was told after beingg diagnosed with lung cancer he had 2 months. He lived two more y ears before bein told he had 2 more months he died in 2 weeks.|||Only God can answer this. But adenocarcinomas can be fast indeed. The Doctors should remove the Testicles to slow down the monster and give estrogen.

Sorry indeed.|||It is hard to say. Sometimes people with prostate cancer live very long if it is not aggressive… If he has less than 6 months prognosis from the doctors, then hospice can be called in to help him out….|||Tell him not to give up. The attitude has very much to do with how long someone lives. Seek nontraditonal therapies and diets also.

I will pray for him too -whether you call it prayer, light healing, Reiki, or what -it does work.|||Six months to a year.|||he is going to have long life .If you are serious about this

They have their new cancer vaccine up before the FDA advisory committee this Thursday. If the panel votes to recommend approval the FDA should give the go ahead for manufacture. It is not a %26quot;cure%26quot; but it can help extend the lives of prostate cancer patients.|||No one knows for sure, it depends upon the person. But you might Try Vitamin C therapy. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram. The good part was that Interferon was a product of the natural breakdown of Vitamin C in your system. Shortly after that paper came out the FDA tried to make Vit C by prescription only. Guess why? The FDA says that the RDA for Vit C is 64 mg a day, just enough to prevent scurvy. Linus Pauling, who got a Nobel Prize for his work with Vit C and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemistry, said 1000 mg a day as a minimum and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. On a personal note, I was sick twice a year, for 2 weeks at a time, for 20 years, and was flat on my back for at least a week each time. To this day the doctors have no idea what the problem was. After I gave up on the doctors I tried Vit C. I took enough to keep from being sick and just below too much to get diarrhea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks with a peak at 40,000 mg a day – about 300,000 over the 2 weeks. I was not sick for those 2 weeks and after a couple of years of that I have not been sick since. I did not dissolve my kidneys, as some doctors said would happen. I did not get any calcium build up or stones and did not dissolve my cones or solidify my joints. Try it, but drink a lot of water – Vit C is a natural diuretic.|||No one can ever predict how long.|||FIrst of all, there is very little good informationt to be found at Yahoo answers, so don%26#039;t take anything you read here to heart. You would do better to join a prostate cancer support group, such as http://www.yananow.net , or doing your research through the prostate cancer research institute http://www.prostate-cancer.org/

Prostate cancer is treatable, even if it%26#039;s become systemic. The key is that until the very final stages, prostate cancer requires testosterone to grow. For someone in your friend%26#039;s position, the next step is usually androgen deprivation therapy, which reduces the amount of available testoterone. As long as he responds to this treatment, he can still have a good chance of five year survival.

My father, 50 years old, has a 6.1 PSA and wants to know whether it%26#039;s risky at the moment. What can he do to stop that number from increasing?|||I would say it is the watchful range. I would suggest getting another PSA done in 30-45 days to see if there is any change.

They say eating a low fat diet, mainly eliminating dairy products is good. Taking Vitamin D3 has been found to help prostate cancer %26amp; the supplement Saw Palmetto can help shrink the prostate gland. The only other thing I can add is if possible to try %26amp; buy hormone free milk (Horizon is a good brand) %26amp; hormone free eggs( Eggland Best are good). Prostate Cancer is a hormone driven cancer(Testosterone) %26amp; the more hormonal influences he can cut out of his diet, the better off he will be. Meat also has alot of hormones injected into it by the cattle farmers, if possible grass fed, hormone-free meat is best to eat for the least side effects.Hope this helps! Good luck!|||Nothing can stop the PSA rising.

For a 50 year old, that is fine

He has a normal PSA.

PSA does not equal prostate cancer… it is simply indicative.

Prostate cancer has a very high survival rate. In med school, we learnt that 80% of people with the cancer will survive a further 15 years without treatment. It is the least lethal cancer we know.|||follow up with is Dr on a regular basis. Moderate risk for cancer|||It could be prostate cancer, but statistically it is more likely to be infection. Check out www.drmirkin.com for lots of information the subject, including the following two information sheets.

www.drmirkin.com/men/8351.html

www.drmirkin.com/men/M155.htm|||That is a high level for a 50 year old. That DOES NOT mean he has prostate cancer, but it is a warning sign. Please tell your dad to see his doctor as soon as possible for further testing. This is not something to wait and see on. The earlier you can catch any problem the more likely you are to be able to resolve it. My father and uncle both have prostate cancer so I do know what i am talking about.
