Nocturnal emissions, prostatitis, prostate adenoma and prostate cancer - can be caused by (totally) prolonged sexual abstinence? Totally means no sex, no masturbation, total sexual inactivity. And please tell me where I can fin articles related to this subject. Thank You.|||I have read articles that it helps a man%26#039;s prostate if he masterbates to orgasm at least 3 times per week after age 50.|||Does Sexual Abstinence mean like…NO SEX AT ALL. I mean like, no masterbating? REALLY? NO SEX AT ALL…OH GOD, i CAN FEEL MY PROSTATE STARTING TO GIVE…LOL…HAVE SEX AND GET OVER IT.

BUT DON%26#039;T FORGET TO BE SAFE AND WRAP YOUR MONKEY!!!

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 6-7 months ago and he has completed his radiation treatment for now. However, my dad now complains of having a sore throat that feels completely raw from his throat to his stomach and anything he eats it has to be soft. My dad tried to explain this to the first doctor but she replied with that it could not have come from the radiation{ mind you he%26#039;s never experience this before until now} and that he should seek another specialist. He has another appointment in a few days but in the meantime I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with radiation treatment??|||I%26#039;ve gone through both external and internal radiation treatments for Prostate Cancer and did not experience anything like your Dad is reporting. I did a considerable amount of research re the treatments, and side-effects — sore throat is not one of them. More site specific effects such as renal %26amp; bladder problems are what would normally be expected. However, radiation does affect people differently, thus I think he should follow-up with his Dr. and request that she contact other Oncologists to see if they are aware of any such reports.|||Radiation therapy is site specific. Meaning the radiation is only directed at the target area. He must be dealing with something else. If he has been throwing up it could be that. or nasty cold, or maybe new medication he is on.|||As a radiation therapist, I can assure you that your father%26#039;s symptoms are not secondary to radiation treatment of the prostate. Radiation therapy is a very targeted treatment which, although harmful to tissue, only harms the tissue within its path. Your father%26#039;s radiation effects will be limited to the skin and pelvic organs, such as the bowel and bladder, if he has any late effects.|||Your dad sounds like he may have oral candida which has spread into his esophagus (the tube which takes food from his mouth to his stomach)

He needs to be on oral Nystatin or Mycelex as soon as possible, because this can get really bad and then he will not be able to swallow at all.

Look inside his mouth and throat for white spots or a really beefy red tongue.. Even if he does not have the white spots, he may be in the beginning of thrush which is known in the medical world as candida. Sometimes it starts in the back of the throat, so look there too.

A few days is too long to wait for his doctor to prescribe something. Call the MD and ask for some Nystatin swhish and swallow to be called to his pharmacy tonite. It cant hurt anything just to try it, and in a couple of days the MD will probably order a small pink pill to treat it

RN in Cancer for 13 yrs.

PS: let us know how it goes|||If they aimed it at his throat, then yes, but I doubt that they did that..Is he getting proper nutrition with enough vitamins, minerals and proteins to help him to heal properly (as best he can)…bland cool protein foods include cold hard boiled eggs and rax or arby%26#039;s roast beef sandwiches (plain)…also bottled water is good…Maybe they might have put a breathing tube in during his surgery and could he could have a scratchy throat from that or even from a dry heated room, dehydration (drink more fluids), nausea and vomiting, or some sort of sore throat from germs (ie strep throat)…

Candida mentioned above would be from taking a lot of antibiotics, usually…|||I did experience that, but my radiation field was directly on my throat. Keep asking until you get some decent answers.

Best wishes|||Radiation is very specific to the area it treats. The radiation would not travel from the exact area of treatment to any further areas. Could it be something like acid reflux?|||From the National Cancer Institute, the 7 warning signs of cancer are–

C- Change in bowel or bladder habits

A- A sore that does not heal

U- Unusual bleeding or discharge

T- Thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere

I- Indigestion or Dysphagia (difficult or painful swallowing)

O- Obvious change in wart or mole

N- Nagging cough or hoarseness

Five hundred years ago, people said the world was flat. Today, people say that if the FDA and AMA haven%26#039;t blessed something, it can%26#039;t be real good. Well, here%26#039;s something I know to be real AND good. It%26#039;s a little different take on cancer treatment–

In 1990, I had Hodgkin%26#039;s Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I%26#039;ve survived. My doctors were great people, but they were limited to surgery, chemo and radiation by profitable AMA treatment policy. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine. I%26#039;m a retired engineer, and this is what I%26#039;ve pieced together–our IMMUNE SYSTEMS become weakened by poor nutrition, lack of exercise and reduced oxygen. Once that happens, our body becomes vulnerable to common STRESSORS. Stressors can be environmental, like viruses, heavy metals, pesticides, food additives, electromagnetic waves or pollution. They can be internal things like emotional or job stress, or poisonous people in our lives. Aging is also a contributing factor. So this means:

WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM + STRESSORS = DISEASE (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.)

Our bodies have 60 trillion–yes, trillion–cells, and there are always some mutating into cancer cells, but a healthy immune system kills them before they have a chance to get a foothold in the body.

It takes a LONG time, usually, or a high level of stressors, to weaken the immune system to the point where it won%26#039;t do its job, but once cancer has formed, it will generally spread rapidly.

THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are ways to BEAT cancer that are currently being used in Europe and around the world, and there are some great books on the subject. I know because I%26#039;ve read about 50 of them from cover to cover. Here%26#039;s a list of the best ones. Some are out of print and getting hard to find–

%26quot;The Cure for All Cancers%26quot;, ISBN 0963632825

%26quot;The Cure for All Advanced Cancers%26quot;, ISBN 1890035165

%26quot;A Cancer Therapy%26quot;, ISBN 0882681052

%26quot;Oxygen Therapies%26quot;, ISBN 0962052701

%26quot;Hydrogen Peroxide–Medical Miracle%26quot;, ISBN 1885236077

%26quot;The Natural Cure for Cancer–Germanium%26quot;, ISBN 0533071410

%26quot;Killing Cancer%26quot;, ISBN 0705000966

%26quot;Natural Cures %26#039;They%26#039; Don%26#039;t Want You to Know About%26quot;, ISBN 0975599518

I know of people whose cancer has %26#039;spontaneously remitted%26#039; (WENT AWAY for no known reason) AFTER they went on programs of herbs and nutrition to restart their immune systems.

You and your family must look out for yourselves to stand a chance of being healthy. This is not a joke, and I%26#039;m not selling anything–just trying to help.

I am using the things I learned in those books right now to fight off a second infestation of cancer. I%26#039;ve been at it for over a year now, and think I%26#039;m going to make it. Use what works for you, and pass on your success. Best of luck.

AMA AND FDA–

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law and the FDA in this country with heavy lobbying and a revolving door policy. WHY would they want to do this? It%26#039;s about the money. In 2006, medicine (doctors, hospitals, researchers and pharmaceutical firms) received 2.1 TRILLION dollars–15% of the total earnings (GNP 13.7 trillion) in the U.S. This is astounding! It means MILLIONS of people worked the whole year just to pay the nation%26#039;s medical expenses!! That%26#039;s totally astounding, and just too big to care about individuals.

this isn%26#039;t a question this is a statement. Look up the aav2 virus that cures hpv, breast, cervical, prostate cancer. The government won%26#039;t fund! I was diagnosed with hpv and pre cancer something needs to be done! There are cures out there why wont gov%26#039;t fund the people need to speak|||I%26#039;m not sure what you are talking about since the Aav2 virus is most definitely in the Research phase. As far as it %26#039;curing%26#039; cancer . . that is a real stretch . . so far there have been some promising %26#039;results%26#039; done in a petri dish . . but nothing yet on real live cancer patients. This is true of many, many other promising treatments currently in the works for the over 200 different types of cancer.

You can look up any current cancer research and reports at the National Library of Medicine or on the ASCO site. I believe the National Cancer Institute also has information about this.

they always say that people die because they didnt find out they had cancer soon enough, but how do you know you have it. if you have diareah, you know it because your stomach hurts, but what are some signs you have cancer. for example prostate cancer.|||Prostate cancer has few early symptoms. You might have difficulty urinating. The only way to diagnose prostate cancer early is by getting regular PSA tests and digital prostate exams done.

Many other cancers have common early symptoms like unexplained weight loss, fatigue for no good reason, unexplained fevers, night sweats, coughs that won%26#039;t go away, unexplained pains, difficulty swallowing - and so on - depending upon type of cancer.

If you have some of these symptoms and they have continued for a month or longer then you need to see a physician. You might have an infection like mono but you might also have cancer.|||The only way to know is to:

a) Get the proper tests done at the proper times to find out.

b) Accidentally discover it during a test for something else.

c) Die of it (not the preferred method, but effective).|||The only way to really keep up and know for sure is by having regular checkups with your physician. Also, learn from your body, when you feel like something isn%26#039;t right, get it checked out. It%26#039;s better to be safe than sorry!|||The only 100% sure way is to go to a doctor if you SUSPECT you have cancer, especially if you have any of the risk factors, i.e., If cancer of any kind runs in your family, or if you smoke or work around toxic materials.|||If you really want to know, I think you have to go to a doctor to find out. Or look up on the web for the symptoms you are inquisitive about. Don%26#039;t become obsessed with this stuff because many symptoms could be due to plenty of other things other than cancer.|||There are so many different forms of cancer, it%26#039;s a bit difficult to answer your question in relation too all types. Do you have some sort of sign that%26#039;s made you think that you do? If so, the best and most accurate way of knowing is for you to go to your doctor and be tested for such. If for some reason the test comes back negative and you%26#039;re still seeing the same signs…keep asking. Go with your gut feeling because time is of the essence when dealing with cancer…the only thing that truly gives you a fighting chance.|||There are so many forms of cancer that its a tough question to answer! If you lose weight in a short period of time, I guess that is a warning sign, and if you have a mole that changes colors, I know that this is a sign of a cancerous growth.|||Some times you dont know,My wife has stage iv kidney cancer. She never had any signs of cancer. It was found when she was being tested for gall stones.|||Bone marrow testing, otherwise symptomhttp://www.emedicinehealth.com/cancer_sy… will tell you about symptoms.|||They have insisted on a biopsy to definitely decide if it is cancer or not. CT scans, PT scans show that it is probably cancer, but the biopsy is the definitive way of knowing.|||I do not know about prostate cancer but my leukemia started out with a broken ankle I received just by standing up. Then I got a cyst under my arm. Then I got what I thought was my usual migraine. i went to the er and they did blood tests and found out I had leukemia. I do not know what your symptoms are but you need to be checked.|||Know more about Cancer !

My father went to the doctor last week and they told him he had prostate cancer. He went back to the doctor today and they told him that it had spread around to his spine and that they would have to do surgery and remove 16 inches of his spine. They also said that they would probaly still have to remove both of his testicales. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone that had these procedures done and what the risk are, the benefits, and are there any other ways around having a part of his spine removed. The doctor told us that when he removed 16 inches of his spine that he probaly wouldn%26#039;t be able to work again in his life. Are there other options out there Help If You Can. ASAP Please no smart *** answers please.|||Chances are high that the cancer will spread even more after the surgery.

I am no doctor, but if I were in his shoes, I%26#039;d make my peace with God, not have the surgery, and enjoy my time left being able to walk.

It is a real bummer. I am sorry.|||Sorry to say but the probably part is for sure. He will not be able to walk or control his bladder or bowls. I would seek a second and third opinion but it sounds like the cancer is pretty aggresive and sounds like the treatment should be the same. Sorry, your dad is in my prayers|||okay yeah i kno im a kid but i work in the hospital and it is true he will never work again and have any more kids. There might also be the risk of him getting paralyzed. after all the surgery is over the cancer might even come back. Those are the risks the good thing is he will be able to live the rest of his life wothout the worry of cancer and the only way he would die is of old age. I hope this helps with your concerns! i wish the best of luck to your dad and will pray for him!|||Absoltuely get a second opinion. My Dad has prostate cancer (inoperable) and cancer of the spine as well as the shoulder. He%26#039;s had 45 radiation treatments for the prostate and 15 for the spine. Definitely get a second opinion. Anytime the body is opened up and air hits it, it allows the cancer to attack that weak area.

BTW…he%26#039;s had cancer since 2000.|||This is not a good sign when cancer has spread to the bone. Did the doctor tell your dad that by chance? When my father found out, it had spread to his bones, and he was terminal, but this was my dad and not yours. I really am sorry your father is going through this. Please check with the hospital at this link. I wished this place had existed when my father was diagnosed.

http://www.cancercenter.com/|||Sorry i don%26#039;t know what to tell you. The only thing that isrunning through my mind is, the fact that your father is in my prayers and mostlikely everyone elses who have read this. I am so sorry and just to let you know, we are all here for you and your father to get through this. Love and luck.|||I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July. I am 48 YO.

I was lucky that the Dr. found the cancer early enough that it is thought to have been contained within the prostate. I don%26#039;t have personal experience with what you are asking about, but I recommend the following resources to help you understand the cancer and the treatments that the Dr. has recommended. For advanced prostate cancer the treatments seem severe, but are aimed at controlling the cancer and giving the patient a better quality of life. There are other treatment options available, even for advanced cancer, so the best advice I can give you is to get a second opinion, from a Medical Oncologist, not a Urologist. Also get a second opinion from a Radiologist. They may have options for you dad that would not include surgery.|||My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he was in total denial. until it started affecting his urine control and his eating habits. then they told him it was in his bones. They offered radiation, and chemo, but my father said no, he was a vain person, cared alot about his looks.

The dr. told me once it metastized to the bone, it was in the 4th stage, and that their was not much more they could do, but keep him comfortable.

If the dr. wants to do surgery, sounds like a money hungry dr. why put your father thru that., your dad is going to go thru alot as it is with the cancer in his spine (bones).

The only other option is NO surgery, Enjoy your father as much as you can. And let him know what is going on and let it be HIS decision, do not try and change his mind, just give him the information.

My Prayers are with you and your father,

Take care and God Bless!

My great grandfather died of Prostate Cancer, is there a good chance that i will get it.|||Any cancer can have a tendency to run in families. What about your Grandfather or Father? Are they still alive and well?

Have regular PSA tests at your annual physical exam. Consult with your Doctor. If you catch it early it will most likely not be a problem. Rudy Giuliani is running for President and he has been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. It does not seem to slow him down.

Your Grandfathers cancer is only a minor reflection on your chances of getting this same disease.

Anyway — Good Luck —-|||%26quot;Theoretically, all men are at risk for developing prostate cancer. The prevelance of prostate cancer increases with age, and the increase with age is greater for prostate cancer than for any other cancer.

Basically, every ten years after the age of 40, the incidence of prostate cancer nearly doubles with a risk of 10% for men in their 50%26#039;s increasing to 70% for men in their 80%26#039;s. However, in most older men, the prostate cancer does not grow; many die of other causes and a not identified as having prostate cancer before their death.%26quot;

There is an increased risk for prostate cancer if you have a close relative with the disease. The risk increases if you have more than one. Depending on your Great-Grandfathers age at diagnosis you may want to begin screening early.

Screening should probably begin at age 40 with a digital rectal exam and a PSA test, both of which should be repeated annually.|||Prostate cancer can occur in any man. The risk increases with age and with a history of immediate family members (father or brothers) having prostate cancer.

http://www.health-screening.sg/prostate-…

http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/prostate/publi…|||If you%26#039;re male and American it%26#039;s about 17-20% likely you%26#039;ll get it if you live long enough. Somewhat higher if you%26#039;re African-American; maybe slightly lower if you%26#039;re Asian-American.

But these are the odds for ALL American males.

If you have no closer relative than a great-grandfather who has had prostate cancer, the chances aren%26#039;t altered.

OTOH, if half of the males in your family tree had prostate cancer by the time they got to be 60, you%26#039;re in a higher risk group and might consider earlier screening (such as regular PSA tests and DREs starting at age 40).

I did not know what to make of this morning news.

A mixture of emptiness (not knowing what to think)

and shock still pains my insides. My childhood crush, who I haven%26#039;t seen in over 2 years is possibly dying from prostate cancer. It has spread to his stomach.

I want to rush over to the hospital this week but I can%26#039;t let go of other big responsibilities. I%26#039;m forced to wait until the next weekend. To be honest, the hospital visit itself frightens me because I don%26#039;t want to see a man I sincerely cared for (unknowingly to him) in such a state. I can%26#039;t use the word love (although it felt like it) because I%26#039;ve never really known him enough to express my fondness as love. I still remember his shy smiles.

Should I finally tell him, I was the girl who really liked you from a distance.

Or would it be too inappropriate and burry the feelings instead|||I think you should seriously go see him as soon as you can. He%26#039;ll need all the support he can get. As far as telling him your feelings, that%26#039;s something you%26#039;ll have to determine on your own. Go with your instincts and you should be fine.|||If he has a family ( wife and kids) I would bury it. I would just tell him that I really cared about him when we were kids and talk about good things you remember.

If he doesn%26#039;t have a wife you may want to go into mor details about how you felt from afar and kid around about how he never knew.

Either way keep it light hearted and do not give him any reason to ponder the choices he has made in his life.

Good luck!|||Go and tell him. He could use the lift, I am sure!

And how long does it for the bleeding to stop?

And, what foods should I eat to prevent prostate cancer (i had a biopsy and they said I was okay)|||my dad had this, %26amp; much like myself ,he can not stand pain. it took a few days to get over it.

Did you get a prescription for any pain pills? %26amp; if not some xtra strenth tylenol.

%26amp; for the foods, the carrots , broccoli, %26amp; things w/hi enzymes. my brother in law lived 2 yrs longer than dr%26#039;s said he would from drinking carrot juice %26amp; apricot juice.|||The bleeding may continue for a couple of days but not heavily.

If you%26#039;re bleeding a lot, see your doctor. The uncomfortable feeling will pass within a couple of days avoid heavy lifting or squatting for a few days. Congrats on passing the biopsy.

Let him know that he isn%26#039;t alone and love is in his life even for a brief time if he should loose the fight! Perhaps your love will give him the motivation to fight that much harder! I%26#039;ve seen people die of cancer before so please listen….. You should tell him and do it soon because if you wait too long the pain medication will have started and the guy may not be himself anymore. God bless you:)|||Be honest and open as a human being to another. He may live and maybe this is a second chance, he may die knowing he was the object of your affection. Either way connect with him as is the way of life|||Dont think so hard ? Just take him something you know he will like…….. And say Hi ! May cheer him up ?|||I don%26#039;t see anything wrong with telling him what your feelings were when you were younger. It will probably flatter him and make him feel really good. I had breast cancer and had to go through chemo. I was totally bald when time came around for our 25 year reunion. They weren%26#039;t planning anything and when my high school sweetheart found out about my condition he gathered 20-25 friends together at a local winery to have a reunion. I came in a blonde wig (normally I was brunette) and no one knew who I was. The fact that he got everyone together was special to me. So tell this guy how you felt. It will make him smile.

%26lt;sorry for re-posting, I need more opinions! I don%26#039;t know what to do!%26gt;

Or would it be too inappropriate and burry the feelings instead|||you most definitely need to tell him after all if he%26#039;s in the position you say he%26#039;s in, that%26#039;s exactly what he wants to and exactly what he needs to hear , if you were in his position wouldn%26#039;t you want someone to come tell u %26quot; I LOVE YOU%26quot;. but my question to you is why are u waiting to make someone feel good???|||that makes me wanna cry :(|||I think you should tell him. I also don%26#039;t think you should be afraid of seeing him. Just imagine how bad you%26#039;d feel if you didn%26#039;t get there in time to see him and tell you how you felt when you were younger. He might think it%26#039;s very sweet and will help brighten his day a little. I%26#039;d feel very flattered if someone came up to me to tell me that they were worried about me and that they used to have a crush on me and I%26#039;m sure most people, including him, would feel the same way.

That being said, you should go to the hospital to visit him whenever you can. It%26#039;s also nice to know there are people out there you wouldn%26#039;t have even imagined that worry and care about you.
