I have advanced prostate cancer and have completed my external beam radiation, both full pelvic treatment and boost targeting the prostate only.

I have had my second hormone shot, every three months, and can%26#039;t get a straight answer out of either my Urologist or Oncologist. I have hot flashes, as most do, and chills, but my problem is the stickyness. I feel sticky, I feel that I have an odor, my wife insists I don%26#039;t, and if I lick my fingers, as you might as if you are dealing cards, my fingers stick togeather.

I see my GP next week, should I ask him to send me to OB/GYN? I know that sounds silly, a man going to one, but no one else has an answer. Maybe someone who deals with womens problems may have the answer.

Have you had this problem? How did you deal with it?|||Hello,

I have been on Lupron for the past three years and on Casodex for the past two years. I definitely understand the hot flashes, chills and random pain. I haven%26#039;t felt the stickiness. My family Doctor is a woman and when asked how I was doing I mentioned my nipples hurt. She stated that I had very little Testosterone left in my body so my Estrogen levels are elevated in relation. She stated her nipples hurt also so join the club. It probably couldn%26#039;t hurt to get the opinion of someone who deals with Women%26#039;s problems. The problem I have had with the medication is I now have excessively dry skin, am allergic to most soaps and body washes, and the only Stickiness seems to be in the groin area where the thighs meet the hips. Almost like Jock itch.

Good luck and hopefully the Doctor will have another idea.

Robert T|||Sorry you are having such difficulty. I hope you don%26#039;t mind me posting here.. the hormone therapy caught my eye because I%26#039;ve used it for cancer though you are probably using different hormones.

I just thought I%26#039;d say that perhaps some of these things are perceptual changes vs physical ones.

I remember my Mom saying that during chemo, foods tasted different.. chocolate and sweet things weren%26#039;t the same, etc.

Good luck.|||I also take hormone therapy for breast cancer, the hot flashes are awful. Ive been taking them since Feb. 2007 and i too felt nauseated and sometimes I will now. The tell me that this is

normal and will eventually pass. I have been put on anti-depressant to help with the hot flashes. Not sure if it works, they also say the hot flashes will eventually get better.

As far as odors, once you have chemo nothing is ever the same. Your sense of smell is greater and sometimes you cant stand certain scents. Also food sometimes taste different now. Frankly I don%26#039;t think anyone can get a straight answer of their oncologist. I ask questions and never seem to get a straight answer. I also had radiation it made me weak and at times now i feel week. God Bless! Hope things get better for you. I decided that we just have to live and keep on going, because they don%26#039;t know anything, but trial and error and odds.

My Dad has prostate cancer. We are looking for a hospital to start treatment. We want the best care for him.|||Stanford Hospital looks like an excellent choice for your dad.

Here%26#039;s some information about prostate cancer research and treatment:

http://cancer.stanford.edu/male/

Perhaps your dad may want to consider enrolling in a clinical trial.

Best of luck for you, your dad and the rest of your family.|||Probably City of Hope in Duarte|||Caiser Permanente.

My mom had to go through that and she went to the Caiser in San Rafael. They have very good doctor. He took care of my mom.|||UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. They are ranked #9 in the nation for cancer treatment.|||you want the best care? Are you planning to treat the cancer with chemo therapy? Well all I can tell you is that it is not the best care! Chemo attacks the cancer cells, but it also weakens the immune system. The immune system is made up of white blood cells and lymph nodes responsible for cracking down the code makeup of foreign cells in order to destroy them.

Right now we all have an immune system eating cancer cells (foreign cells) in our bodies. Cancer is therefore supposed to be rare - in the past it was. Today it%26#039;s just another big part of the health care industry.

If you want to help your father, tell him to eat raw, nutritious fruits/veges that help strengthen his immune system. And lay off foods that stresses his body (like chicken, pork, beef, milk, sweets, and fattening foods). In eating the right foods the toxins that was built up in his body will be released by the liver and excreted when he sweats through exercising and/or go to the bathroom. And with a strong immune system the cancer growth will be attacked to the point where it will disappear.

He has to use his immune system to get rid of this foreign cell.

chemo Therapy is toxic and is not guaranteed. He has a better chance leaving it to his immune system. But he must strengthen it.|||UCLA is rated one of the top in the nation.

MD Anderson hospital in Houston is the best in the nation hands down.|||cedar sininide in La i know i spelled it wrong but good doctors check it out on the web and you can research the doctors who specialize in your fathers type of cancer …best of luck and your dad is in my prayers|||The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center is a great start. Another great choice would be Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills (www.csmc.edu). Both have top-notch doctors and state-of-the-art care.

Best Wishes!|||i sorry to hear that my dad has cancer and the betst place is home with frends and family just remebre this God knows all and sees all|||I was treated for stage 3A endometrial cancer at UC Davis Cancer Center in Sacramento. They have an excellent oncology depatment there and if there is any question along the way they don%26#039;t hesitate to send you to a specialist. I was treated with both chemo and radiation there and everyone was very nice. Highly recommended!

I went to Mexico with the old people in my neighborhood on some old fart trip or whatever. I haven%26#039;t been to the doctor in years because I don%26#039;t have insurance. well, I saw this doctor on the corner and it was very cheap examinations. He checked me out and said I had ball cancer and prostate cancer. I had no idea I could get that. I thanked him for the diagnosis, gave him $5 American money and was on my way. As a woman, I had NO idea I could get that. Glad I found out.

The doctor really seemed to enjoy the examination. I wonder why.|||no way, only men can get prostate cancer and ball cancer|||I do not think that is funny if you are sick I will pray for your healing. May God bless you this day.|||1 your a lady

My father is 59 years old and was diagnosed with 4th stage prostate cancer 2 years ago. He has over 40 tumors in his bones and after hormone treatment, radiation therapy and chemo, the tumors are still growing - causing extreme pain. At the moment he is taking ms contin, oxy contin, ordine, panadine forte etc. He has also had a stint on Ketamine to stabalise the pain. It%26#039;s only been a few weeks since his last visit to Cabrini Palliative Care and he is going back tomorrow as the morphine seems to not be working at all anymore. I know that there are other pain management strategies they can try but I have watched other relatives die from cancer… I am worried that the doctors are trying to give us hope where there might not be any. I am also concerned with how quickly he has become immune to the pain medication.|||So sorry for him, you and yours.

Just try to keep him comfortable and as unconscious as possible until the end, that is the most humane way.|||Keep hope. For a while, I was in the same condition he is in, only without all the pain killers (chemo and radiation not working), but the doctors tried a combination that worked. Good luck and for what it%26#039;s worth, I%26#039;ll pray for him.|||I think very highly of hospice care. At the end stage, hospice workers are more concerned with the comfort of the person instead of %26quot;treating the patient%26quot; like dr.s in the hospital are. I think they are also better trained in working with the family to make sure everyone is taken care of. I cannot say enough nice things about hospice care either in home or inpatient.|||With 40 tumors that are still growing, your father may very well be in the end stage of cancer. It may be time to contact a Hospice. Hospice is when the patient has about 6 months or less left to live. The priority of Hospice is pain management and keeping the patient comfortable, and they come to your house. In my brother%26#039;s last 2-3 months of life, his pain pills stopped working and doctors couldn%26#039;t increase them high enough, so he had to switch to injections and I.V. He was on Dilaudid and Demoral because the morphine stopped helping.|||If you don%26#039;t have hospice get it now. And if they cannot control the pain, then he probably needs to be in the hospital where they can do stronger pain meds. It sounds as if your father is dying. He needs to be made comfortable. Get your supports from family and friends. Someone needs to be the advocate for your father in getting better pain relief.

I want to know because my grandfather died from prostate cancer when I was too little to know what that was.|||Normally in your 30%26#039;s however with your family history you should be sure to tell your primary doctor and he will decide. I%26#039;ve came across this doing research…yes this debatable, but I found actual American studies that showed promise (at least with chemotheraphy to reduce effects).

My main ones are Maitake (which supposedly promotes immune enhancement, NK cells, and reduces tumor growth as indicated in Japanese stuides…also in mice reduced prostate cancer by 95% in 24 hours) and alsko ABMK (Agaricus Blazei Murill Kyowa) from Brazil which is similar, but shows up in studies here in the U.S. and is actually recommended for use with chemotherapy to reduce effects.

Any thoughts or actual knowledge of these?|||I would proceed with a great deal of caution. There are some studies in the early stages that indicate that mushrooms may play a role with cancer (some chemo drugs such as Vinristine, originated in plant world). But, the problem is that there is little documentation what that role will be and how much of that mushroom you will need to treat your specific cancer. I know people want to hope that this is the magic bullet, but there is so much intentional misinformation on the Internet please procede with caution. Keep researching and do not go by %26#039;testimonials%26#039; . . they are not reliable because there will never be any evidence that it can help you specifically - you also will never hear about the people it did not help because they probably are dead.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine is a reliable source on the Internet for investigating mushrooms or any dietary supplement.

http://nccam.nih.gov/

Good luck. Perhaps you could find a clinical trial that would benefit your mother and provide documented proof for those who will follow her?|||you should do those %26quot;magic%26quot; mushrooms instead. hahaha|||i dont know about mushrooms but blue berries help with fighting cancer plus ageing|||i dunno about it curing cancer but my grandfather smoked some dried mushrooms hours before he died from cancer because it was more potent than marijuana and helped eased the pain from the disease. He died peacefully.|||from personal exp. here, I myself have been taking both the Maitake and Reisha mushrooms because i have MS..However this all started when a friend of mine introduced me to the reisha coffee..Which lead us to the Maitake.

speaking again from personal exp here.. I have been on this for 2 years now.. However my friends father had leukemia and started taking the mushrooms..and within a month he was in remission and had stopped taking any medical treatments for his leukemia. that wa over a year ago mind you and he%26#039;s still doing very well to this day…

Myself, to this day i still take the mushrooms…|||I have actually heard the opposite, that eating mushrooms can cause cancer. Something to do with the possibility of mold? Along with peanuts, mold in the shells can form %26amp; this contributes to cancer. Sorry I don%26#039;t have an actual source, a couple of people have told me this.

lymph node cancer in a Male over the age of 70.

Pacient had prostate cancer which was removed surgically a few years back.|||The only thing I can recomened is read the info at the site below.|||nobody here could give you an accurate answer; not enough information. if they try to, they dont know what they are talking about. depends on how much it has spread, where the cancer originated, how it responds to treatment, etc. you need to talk to your doctor about it.|||this will be secondary cancer then so out look not so good|||I don%26#039;t know the answer to this but maybe this web sight can be of help to you. It is very informative in all areas of cancer treatments. Good Luck.|||How long has he had this? Also has he had any kind of treatment. Seek info from your cancer doctor. Good Luck to yas!|||My husband was an otherwise healthy 23-year old when he was diagnosed with stage IV Non-Hodgkin%26#039;s Lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes/system) with bone marrow involvement. He went through many rounds of chemotherapy (I lost count after the 8th round and the second combination of drugs) and eventually an autologous stem cell transplant. He%26#039;s been NHLymphoma-free ever since the transplant in June of 2001.

Since then, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had surgery to remove a testicle and chemotherapy to treat metastasis of a nearby lymph node. He has been in remission from that cancer for more than a year. He has a prognosis of a 1% chance of either cancer reoccurring in his lifetime. So — don%26#039;t let anyone tell you that a second cancer %26quot;doesn%26#039;t look good.%26quot; Also, this isn%26#039;t a secondary cancer…it%26#039;s a second cancer. There IS a difference.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 71. She had surgery to remove a breast and prophylactic chemotherapy. She%26#039;s been in remission for more almost a year. So — don%26#039;t let anyone tell you that age is THE factor. It is a factor…but not the only one.

Every person handles cancer and the treatment of differently. Existing conditions may or may not play a part in how well the body receives the treatment, whether it includes surgery, chemotherapy or surgery — or a combination thereof. Only the patient%26#039;s doctor can give an accurate life expectancy.

You may consider Ayurveda, Homoeopathy or Naturopathy.

Since exploring other pathies may take some time, you may consider starting with Yoga %26amp; Pranayam forthwith, which may prove to be beneficial.|||Sorry to here that. But i have heard of bone marrow transplant. n i don%26#039;t think you should try any thin else but what is going on . What if its bad. I pray for your dad|||From what u described the worst part is that the cancer has metastasized to the bone. which tells me it is in its late stages and is not curable. It sounds like your father is suffering. Iam saddened to hear this and sad to say that he may be dying. If his body has not responded to 5 blood transfusions and procrit injections then I cannot think of anything else that will reverse what is going on. The only medicine I know of is PRAYER and lots of it. Sometimes it is better to let nature take its course than to try and combat it with mans drastic measures. Also think of ur dad. Can he talk to u and tell u what he wants? I have seen family members of dying individuals and it is very diificult for them to face the reality that their loved one is dying. It is only instinct to want to cure them and make them better but sometimes it aint gone happen. If %26quot;sin%26quot; was the cause of all death, cancer, strife and general badness in the world, shouldn%26#039;t Creation Scientists be able to empirically prove this?

Shouldn%26#039;t they be able to prove higher rates of cancer among prison populations? Shouldn%26#039;t this %26quot;theory%26quot; produce testable results? At what point have I commited enough sins in my life to increase my chances of prostate cancer? Can Creation Scientists tell me that, so I can avoid sinning that much?|||Before sin there WAS no death on planet earth ….

Romans 5:12|||Sin is the cause of imperfection.

The result of a choice. That choice, was to live on this planet without God%26#039;s sovereignty or intervention.

As an A+M atheist, I am sure scripture means nothing to you, but this one addresses you incorrect assumption that all the various illnesses and cancers should only be targeted to prison inmates or %26#039;bad%26#039; people, when all who have inherited will die whether of cancer or not, is just absurd.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.%26quot;

For those in the know about the strand of DNA, that dictates our physiology, scientists have long wondered, why it is, that the certain section gets shorter with each division, when by all logical reasons, it should remain the same.

So, let us take another form of atheist attack on religion, and play a little %26#039;tit for tat%26#039;.

Over and over on this forum we see the claim that %26#039;all wars%26#039; are started in the name of religion.

Yet, science is accepted as basically godless, and therefore pure.

Could you educate me please as to why it is that the godless scientists, have devoted so much of their efforts designing the weapons of war, when it has been suggested, that the scientist are mainly atheist?

Is it because scientists like watching people kill other people?

Or did they just run out of ideas to save the planet, and figured, %26#039;hey, if we developed more efficient killing implements, we could let the religious clear themselves off the planet?%26quot;|||Their goal is to destroy a straw man version of what they think is evolution. They can%26#039;t do much anything else.|||so you will only stop sinning if you think it%26#039;s bad for your heath??|||Many ask this question without even knowing anything about the origin of the disease in which they are using to bring up a reasonble arguement.|||What more proof do you want, people are dieing everyday and they have been forever|||in is not the cause of death cause we die anyway.life is a test|||1sin is the same as many sins, if you sin once you are a sinner if you sin 1,000 times you are a sinner.|||Actually, the sin of masturbation actually decreases the risk of prostate cancer.

Which really seems to screw up God%26#039;s Plan and the Intelligent Design paradigm.|||The hidden truth is that cancer is caused by a vitamin defiency (lack of vitamin b-17). It can easily be cured. Do a search on cancer %26amp; appricot seeds and read all about it! Strange but true…|||Great question, their belief is stupid|||Sin is sin, not cancerous agents. Sinning more does not cause an earlier death or increase your chances of cancer. A sinful lifestyle may actually increase the amount of toxins you introduce into your body and increase the odds of various cancers and illnesses, but that%26#039;s a result of the lifestyle, not the sin. All sin does is mean that all of us die eventually.|||You seem to be confusing %26quot;sin%26quot; with %26quot;sins%26quot;. They are not the same thing. %26quot;Sins%26quot; are acts that people perform that are against the will of God. %26quot;Sin%26quot; is a force at work in the world, similar to gravity or any other force. It operates independent of what an individual does. So cancer and death come on people who have not committed %26quot;sins%26quot;, just as gravity works on people who have not committed %26quot;sins%26quot;. So there would be no difference in the number of cases of disease among prisoners, just as there is no difference in the number of people affect by gravity in prisons.|||Where do you get that sin causes illness believers are not immune! I have had cancer for 10 years and I am in remission,this was 3 years after accepting Christ was it sin or that I was made a human,None of us live for ever this is our temporary home. If you truly want to quit sinning so much accept Christ into your life! You will still be a sinner but you will have your sins forgiven! One way or another 100% of us atheist or believers die,where we go is the big question!|||I don%26#039;t know if I should answer a question posed by one of the %26quot;most hated%26quot;, I might get best answer and make %26quot;SBG%26#039;s list%26quot; then I would lose the moniker %26quot;Least hated%26quot;

Albeit, here goes nuthin…

If sin causes hemoroids, I am sinless baby!

Goin out to walk on water and cast some first stones now…|||Time and chance happen to all.|||Sin has caused the world to be corrupted. We have to live in this world even as believers. There will be some believers who get illnesses, it won%26#039;t be a condemnation of them, it just happens. Some non-believers will be healthy their whole lives. There are even peope who have noted things like bitterness pre-disposing folks to cancer.

Here%26#039;s the point: You can have a relationship with God and that will help you avoid sinning. You don%26#039;t need a ratio of sin to illness. What that seems to say to me is that you want to know how much you can sin and get away from bad consequences. That is wrong in itself. The more I know God, the more I love Him. It is love for Him that makes me want to avoid sin. I don%26#039;t want to make Him sad, by doing bad things.

God loves you. God sent Jesus. Jesus%26#039; death and resurrection have made a way for you to be freed from enslavement to sin. Go to God and talk to Him. You will find that you enjoy life without sin much better than you do now.

Before I met Jesus, nothing made me happy for long. Since I met Him I%26#039;ve found I can be happy longer with much less than before. I love being a Christian!|||There has been a shocking lack of funding from such prestigious institutions as Oral Roberts University, Swaggart Bible college, etc. ;-)
