If a man has his prostate removed due to prostate cancer, is he still able to produce sperm?|||I don%26#039;t think so.

I have written before and you all have been sooooo helpful. I thank you all on this very difficult situation.

I have decided to go with another OB GYN doctor who has taken care of me before in my younger years. The most recent OB GYN doctor seemed to be cold and not informative about the issue of HPV. He told me my test results and said I had HPV High and to just come back in 1 year for a retest since my PAP was normal.

The doctor I have now, who is female, had me take another HPV test and PAP. I am scared now. Like I have to relive another test. It%26#039;s as if I have to keep waiting and praying that the HPV virus will go away or if not I will have abnormal cells that may inevitably turn to cancer. It has made me moody because of this uncertainty in my life. I feel like I should prepare for the worst.

P.S. My father died of prostate cancer which makes it difficult to look at this situation objectively.|||first off, you need to talk your new second doctor and have her explain hpv to you. it is absolutely not inevitable that you will get cancer from this, IDK where this idea comes from. nearly everyone gets hpv at some point, but how many people do you know that have cervical cancer, and I mean REAL cancer not just dysplasia. there is a difference between the two and it is not inevitable. by the way, if that was your first hpv positive and you have never had an abnormal pap , the first doctor did the right thing-you come back in one year for another pap and hpv|||What you really need to do if you have questions and concerns is talk to your doctor. Not everyone here knows what they are talking about and you will end up getting conflicting answers some of which will be completely wrong. Below is a site you should check out that may answer some of your questions like will the virus go away? will it turn into cancer? Take your time and actually read it. (especially the living with HPV article)

Hope this helps you.

This is America, and we can afford $2-trillion wars and tax cuts. But, there%26#039;s one thing we can%26#039;t afford, and that%26#039;s health care for sick kids?

Now, I know socialized medicine sounds like Stalin himself is going to come over to your house and perform a forced sterilization. But, really all it is, is universal health care. Which means everybody - not just the rich - gets to see a doctor when their erection lasts longer than 72 hours.

Please remember that if you hear the new radio ad from Rudy Giuliani, who says his chances of surviving prostate cancer in America were 82%, whereas, in England, under %26quot;socialized medicine,%26quot; his chances would have been 44%. Numbers that, like the cancer, were pulled directly out of Rudy%26#039;s behind.|||I agree with you. i do not like Government health care but we need some kind of insurance people ca afford that do not receive it through work. I cannot get insurance because i have diabetes .Sounds a little like discrimination to me.I don%26#039;t want free health care but Health care period.

Thank you for bringing this up as a discussion instead of calling us people who want freebies.|||I agree, I would like to see a system which covered those who truly can%26#039;t afford their own coverage, at the very least. I don%26#039;t mind some of my taxes going to help those who don%26#039;t have enough to see a doctor.

And the W.H.O. ranks the US as 37th in the world for health care, so Giuliani is trying to make it seem like the US is much better then it is.|||No because government is the primary reason why the current health-care system in the US is getting bad because of all the restrictions the place on drugs and licensing requirements they put on doctors.

Just to get a drug approved by the FDA on average cost $1 billion dollars and almost 10 years worth of time. Also consider that the FDA has a incentive to disallow a drug rather than approve it because it can save face. I wonder how many people have died because the FDA disallowed a drug for a few years until it changed its mind.|||I really haven%26#039;t heard any of the Democratic candidates talking about Socialized medicine. They have proposed AFFORDABLE health care. Their proposal may not be the best but it is better than the nothing proposed by the Republicans. Yes, something is better than nothing.|||Socialized anything has been a disaster in this country. I%26#039;d rather have %26quot;True Freedom and Independence.%26quot; The benefits of that far outweigh even the best socialized plans to be and/or have ever been conceived. Your point is moot. If ppl want to help those less fortunate, then let them as individuals step up to the plate and do it themselves. I don%26#039;t need a government that can%26#039;t tell its own a55 from a hole in the ground telling me i have to do it. Fvck em. because i don%26#039;t, and neither do you nor does anyone else. That%26#039;s the difference between those who want true freedom and independence while looking through the eyes of humanity and those………….well……………tha… use it as some punchline to gain more power and control over the very people they want to supposedly %26quot;help%26quot;. To give a man fish will help in feeding him temporarily. To teach a man to fish will feed him for a lifetime. %26quot;Progression through conservative principle.%26quot; If you truly want to help the people with the cost of their medicines and health care needs, then i would highly suggest researching the FDA with scrutiny. Afterwards demand an immediate investigation of how they truly operate. I just hope this makes sense to at least some.

Mel: sweetie if you want my best possible opinion on this. Support Small Business Health Plan Initiatives.|||No but it%26#039;s much worse than the excellent care that those of us who are paying for it now receive. And what%26#039;s worse the same people who are paying for it now will be paying the most under socialized medicine and receiving really bad care (picture the people who run the passport office running health care).|||What we have now is best

If it ain%26#039;t broke, don%26#039;t fix it|||Don%26#039;t the poor already get covered? They do. There are plenty of gov%26#039;t programs at the state and federal level that do this.

So what more do we need?

There is an underlying problem with the healthcare debate. And it has to do with opportunity costs. Most of the people in this country can afford health care. What that means is that they have to give up other things. This is what is great about the economy we live in–we have choices. But with those choices comes the opportunity costs.

The underlying problem in this country is that people are unwilling to accept the opportunity costs of purchasing health care. That means no big screen TVs, fancy cars, DVDs, fancy clothes, cell phones, cigarettes, alcohol, ipods, etc. for lots of people.

This is the problem. There are opportunity costs associated with purchasing health care. Just like with buying a house, or a car, or going to a movie.

We shouldn%26#039;t reward people for not accepting their opportunity costs. Yes there are people who genuinely can not afford to get health care. There are programs in place to help them.

Next problem with universal health care is that the rich will always be able to afford the best health care. Universal health care does not insure a quality product.

Also, would we want a corporation to monopolize any industry in the United States? No, because they%26#039;re inefficient, wasteful, and charge higher prices.

Then why would we want the gov%26#039;t to monoploize the health care industry? It would be wasteful, inefficient, bring higher taxes, and lessen choice. Canada and Europe are the best examples of this.

Universal health care is bad for a free market economy. We should not reward people for avoiding their opportunity costs.|||Yes, socialized medicine is better than no medicine at all. Fortunately, that%26#039;s not the choice. The government already gives free healthcare to poor kids. If rich kids need healthcare, their parents should pay for it. Not the taxpayers.

If you think other countries have better healthcare than America, feel free to move to those other countries. I%26#039;ll stay here.|||I%26#039;m from Down Under and was shocked that my trip to the hospital in the States cost $150 with insurance and would have been $800 without. Even paying the insurance was surprising, but hey, we pay for it in tax. I prefer it though. The inequality in the USA is very disturbing.|||Question: Lets say you set up a fast food restaurant. Business is good, and you%26#039;re making money. There happen to be some hungry people in your city. The government says %26quot;o…that guy over there has food…he can feed them%26quot;. They pass a law that says that you%26#039;re OBLIGATED to feed anyone that comes in your door and says %26quot;I%26#039;m poor and hungry%26quot;.

Pretty soon, half of your customers are poor and hungry. People are driving 20 miles to get some free food. You basically have 2 choices: Go out of business or raise prices. Pretty soon, those few customers that still come, are paying $100 for a hamburger.

Health care is screwed up BECAUSE government has gotten involved with it. There%26#039;s a direct and positive correlation with government involvement in health care and the cost of health care.

Think I%26#039;m kidding? 10% of Mexicans live in America. The majority of those have no health care. We pay our insurance, and are footing the bill for nearly 10% of Mexico%26#039;s health care costs….and we%26#039;ve barely begun.

Government is what screwed it up to begin with….think they%26#039;re going to be the people to fix it?

They%26#039;ve taken 3 attempts at running health care. Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA. All 3 are in shams and bankrupt. ….and you want to turn it ALL over to them?

Where in the constitution does it say that all men are entitled to health care. As soon as the government gets out of it, prices will come down, and anyone who wants it will be able to buy it.

66 year old man is losing weight very thin he had hpylori in his tummy and went on the prev pac multi pac and was hard on him he had cbc 2 chest xrays all clear he was tested for thyroid and prostate cancer all good had a stress test and echo all good had a ultra sound of abdomen all good he had a catscan of his abdomen focused on his kidneys found a small cyst had blood drawn for metabolic all good just had a cbc and a check for thyroid over or active havent gotten results yet no pain but losing weight he is eating he says hes hungry alot waht could be wrong pretty much rule out any sort of cancer because th edr says everytime he gives him a test or checks th eblood for stuff all good any help would be good is there any thing such as like something to help you gain weight i dont mean to sound funny but he needs something that wont harm him hes on coumadin and simvastin and metroprolol and he does have a fib somehting with the heart|||It is extremal difficult to give precise medical diagnosis. The following may help. You say that after CBC (complete blood test) there are no problems, also chest ex ray etc. I notice you are still waiting for some results.

Drugs Coumadin (Warfarin) Used to thin the blood, this limits clotting.

Simvastatin Cholesterol lowering medication

Metroprolol (Tartrate ) High Blood Pressure treatment

PrevPac is a convenient daily dose pack that contains a multiple-drug treatment to eliminate Helicobacter pylori to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence. Each dose card contains three different prescription drugs for one day%26#039;s treatment. It includes an acid-reducing drug called PREVACID (lansoprazole) and two antibiotics called TRIMOX (amoxicillin capsules, USP) and BIAXIN (clarithromycin tablets).

The triple-drug treatment in PrevPac is used to eliminate H. pylori to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcers from coming back.

Possibilities: Simvastatin can cause skeletal muscle loss.

Is the duodenal ulcer still active? this can cause weight loss but very slim if scans show clear.

I personaly think that this gentleman is not eating sufficiently. As currently there are no medical reason for excessive weight loss.

Sometimes people tell you that they are eating well when in fact they are not. Like a smoker. You ask them how many they smoke, and they will tell you some figure below what they do smoke or what they want you to hear.

Try to get hime to eat small meals (balanced) Protein, carbohydrate and fat (not saturated) five six times during the day about 400 calories /meal. You could also suppliment this with a whey drink (weight lifters use this to gain weight without eating too much) Be careful this is high protein foods and as such can cause weight loss if taken in excess.

This Information is for general information only, and should not be treated as a substitute for the medical advice of your own doctor or any other health care professional.|||One long sentence that was impossible to comprehend.|||My guess would be either from the ulcer, poor diet, or thyroid problem. It is possible that the a hyperthyroid would cause weight loss.

I believe that equal funds should be allocated to research, prevention, information and treatment for male-only diseases (prostate cancer and testicular cancer) as they are to female-only diseases.

What do you think? Linking to a source would be great but opinions are interesting too, lol.

Why?|||Because they realized several decades ago, that all the research, preventative information and treatment WAS for males and was being used for - and on - women as well. An Epiphany occurred - now the pendulum has swung the other way. I trust like most everything else, it%26#039;ll soon settle down more in balance.|||Cutting off a breast is more disfiguring than cutting off a testicle.|||Of course you are right but you are only going to get it by demanding and fighting for it. It%26#039;s the way of the world.

PS… vote for Hillary!|||I dare say that most males will not get treatment for male cancers. They would rather change their diets. This is probably a case of supply and demand in many cases. I changed my diet and got rid of lumps.. Women won%26#039;t do that, not the ones I know. They like their fats and sugars too much. This life is tougher than some think.|||women worry more about that stuff than men do. thats why.|||Because women appear in more ads than men do.

Theyre a very effective advertising tool, so they need to do as much research to protect such and asset.|||Prostate cancer and testicular cancer have excellent outcomes if diagnosed early. Breast cancer is far more dangerous.

What I think is disproportionate is AIDS research vs heart disease. But that%26#039;s another discussion altogether.|||I think the biggest reason is probably that there are really no large male advocacy movements yet to lobby for their interests.|||I have no idea where you get your information from but for years women weren%26#039;t included in medical research because most of the medical researchers were men. Most medications were tested on men procedures were done on men. It%26#039;s only been in the last 20 years or so that medical research has started to include women. My mother is one of the nurses in the Harvard nurses research study that found out about HRT and it%26#039;s effect on the incidences of heart diseases in women. This was the first major research done using women. All of the medical research up to than was done on men. Joint replacement surgery is based on a man%26#039;s joints and they aren%26#039;t made the same way that womens joints are. Most of the medical knowledge about diseases and disorders we know are based on what worked for men not women and now we%26#039;re finding out that men are different than women. We don%26#039;t have the same symptoms of heart attacks and strokes as men. Because we%26#039;re smaller on average medicine works different in women than men. We are just now trying to even the playing feild.|||I agree.

The reason why women receive more funding than men is because gov%26#039;ts are cow-towing and meeting each and every demand from selfish women%26#039;s groups who in turn have billions in funding allocated to them, whether it%26#039;s in health, programs, women in business, etc. This has been the case since the 60s and also explains why women on average live years longer than men now.|||women get sick much more than men do…. an we got a lot more things that can go wrong with our bodies… so we need more funds for our diseases…|||My opinion only.

With the enormous cost to countries for what feminism has fought for and been given, it will be an enormous battle to either get the government to spend the same amount or to get women to relinquish half of their budget for men.|||I second what Devil%26#039;s advocate stated. There is a lack of advocacy for men%26#039;s health issues.|||I don%26#039;t know. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we just don%26#039;t have the same number of men%26#039;s advocacy groups as women%26#039;s groups. I think it is a travesty.

And for the woman who said losing a breast is more disfiguring than losing a testicle, get over yourself. Do you think that men really don%26#039;t care about losing one?? Seriously? It is just as big of a deal to a man, the only difference is that everyone can%26#039;t see that it%26#039;s missing. Having a special part of your body hacked off is just as traumatizing to a man. Sheesh.

what is a prostate?

and prostate cancer|||The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system. Its main function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly basic fluid that constitutes up to one-third of the volume of semen. The prostate differs considerably between species anatomically, chemically, and physiologically. A healthy human prostate is slightly larger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder and can be felt during a rectal exam. Skene%26#039;s glands found in many females are homologous to the prostate gland in males.

Prostate cancer is cancer of the small walnut-shaped gland in men that produces seminal fluid, the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.

For many men a diagnosis of prostate cancer can be frightening, not only because of the threat to their lives, but because of the threat to their sexuality. In fact, the possible consequences of treatment for prostate cancer — which include bladder control problems and erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence — can be a great concern for some men.

If prostate cancer is detected early — when it%26#039;s still confined to the prostate gland — you have a better chance of successful treatment with minimal or short-term side effects. Successful treatment of cancer that has spread beyond the prostate gland is more difficult. But treatments exist that can help control prostate cancer.|||what are you 10? I´m 14, and male, I masturbated today, and my semen was watery. Is this a sign of Prostate Cancer???????|||nope, it%26#039;s just watery today. If you wait a couple of days it will become thick again.|||Probably not, Prostrate cancer is an old mans disease. You are probably masturbating too often.|||Lol, I have no idea. But, it doesn%26#039;t sound right.

Look up Syptoms of Prostate Cancer.

To me I think its because you%26#039;re still young and still going through puberty.

I%26#039;m not a guy, so I%26#039;m not sure.|||No. Semen will either come out watery or sometimes very thick like chowder. It depends on when you last released. If I masterbate after not doing it for a week, it generally is runny but if I do it again a few hours later then its going to be thick. The main reason is the first time there is more semen with the sperm and the second more sperm less semen.|||yes it is…hahaha lol.

its normal.|||no it should be watery
