Hi I am 23 and am scared to death i have ovarian cancer. for about a year now i have had lower pelvic pain..kind of just like a dull aching pain or sometimes it feels like a pinching feeling. It will come on for a few days and then fade off for a couple weeks or so. Sometimes I also feel a little nauseous. The pain is usualy only on my right side and travels down to the right side of my leg. Lately, I have been making bowel movements more frequently and find myself passing gas throughout the day, which never happened before. I am also constantly burping! I have looked up these symptoms and it all points to ovarian cancer and I am so incredibly scared. I know I should go to a doctor but im so scared to do that. does this sound like ovarian cancer to anyone? is it possible to get it at 23 yrs old? i need some answers. thanks|||You really need to see a doctor The longer you wait, the worse it will get and the more severe the consequences. Please see a doctor. Yes you can get ovarian cancer at that age. It could be something less scary, but only 1 way to find out. The sooner they find out, the sooner something can be done about it, no matter what the diagnosis.|||It%26#039;s possible to get any type of cancer at any age, but the chances of it actually being ovarian cancer is low. Since no one on here is qualified to make a diagnosis, stop reading stuff on the internet and just go to your doctor. It%26#039;s probably nothing, so just get over yourself and go.|||sounds like you should see a doc, cause it quite possibly could be your appendix. You don%26#039;t want that to burst. I would be more concerned with that right now.|||You should never be scared to go to a doctor. You could be putting yourself in danger. The quicker you figure out what is wrong, the better chance you have in curing it. Don%26#039;t worry! Any doctor would be able to give you MUCH better advice than anyone on here… you have to go!!!|||See a doctor. There are many other much more common reasons for your symptoms besides cancer. The only way to get answers is to have a proper exam and consultation with a GYN.|||It is possiblay but not probable. You might want to look up the symptoms of Endometrosis. It%26#039;s what I had and ended up getting a Hysterectomy at 27 years old. My mother passed away from Ovarian Cancer and so I know just about everything about it. The symptoms for that cancer are so broad that it is mistaken for cancer and the other way around. Your ONLY best bet is to go to the doctor and tell him/her EVERYTHING. Even if you think it does%26#039;nt pertain to what you are going through. If it is Ovarian Cancer the longer you are scared to go the harder it is going to be to treat. Ovarain Cancer is a very very agressive cancer. Not going to the doctor is only going to amke it worse. Please for the sake of yourself and your family go to the doctor.!|||See a doctor, but it could be something like endometriosis or PCOS. It%26#039;s never good to self-diagnose.

She had ovarian cancer 18 months ago, and had hysterectomy and followed by chemotherapy. Now, the cancer has recurred. she is under chemotherapy now. Does any one know about ayurveda, or any other method to eliminate the disease. PLEASE HELP|||I am currently in the Bahamas with my Mother who has Terminal Lung Cancer. There is a clinic here that has been in operation for over 30 years. We have been here for 3 of our 8 week stay, and today was really neat. A lot of the patients stuck around in the meeting room/ waiting room to visit, as is usual. There were 40 people all talking and laughing, talking about cancer and life, the returning patients talk about how bad their cancer was 4, 8, 10 even 14 years ago when they started coming to the clinic, the cancer that has since disappeared. There is nothing dangerous or foreign to the treatment, just building up you immune system in a very effective manner. If you want to know more contact me or go to www.immunemedicine.com I cannot tell you how impressed I am with what I have seen and how my Mother has already improved. I know one man who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he skipped all US, conventional (poisonous, dangerous) options and went to the Bahamas and is doing great now. Another man who has been coming here for 18 years that had prostate cancer. People with just about every type of cancer. But, they are honest here, you send them your medical information and they will tell you whether they believe they can help you or not, and they will send you home if they don%26#039;t think you are benefiting.

My mom has shown drastic improvements and is feeling so much better. and we are in the Bahamas so we are having a good Mother-Daughter vacation.

I have also donr a lot of research on the Cesium Chloride/DMSO treatment and think that it has merit and you can do it at home.

The clinic here believes that a supplement/liquid called VIBE works really well in addition to other treatments.

US doctors push chemo and radiation, but when you look at the statistics and side effects it is not a good option for most people. My Mom had both before we came here and now that I know more about them and have researched them I feel horrible that I let her go through them. She was lucky (so far) the only long term side effect she has shown is short term memory loss.

The stories I have heard from the other patients here about how they were treated by US medicine astound me. One ladie went home to have a shunt put in her liver so she would be ok to come here, but they refused to put it in unless she agreed to do chemotherapy, is that what our country is about? Denying helpfull procedures unless we agree to dangerous, toxic ones? The drug companies run US medicine atleast when it comes to cancer treatment and it is sad. Most doctors will tell you not to try alternative medicine and some will refuse to even see you again if you do. To some degree they are not to blame, they have not been taught anything about it other than that it is evil and wrong.

Please whatever you do, research first, I have not done any research specifically for ovarian cancer. But I did read somewhere that chemo in breast cancer actually reduces life expectancy by up to 18 months. And the quality of life is reduced as well.

One very helpfull website is www.cancertutor.com

Good luck!!|||There are some good ayurveda books out there. Let me see if I can find the one I%26#039;m thinking of.

The key is to change that body to an alkaline body.|||I%26#039;m so sorry. I think Ayurvedic treatments would be fine to try–along with the chemo or between chemo rounds (if needed).

It is NOT a substitute for anti cancer drugs. They are the only things that are proven to destroy cancers cells. Ayurvedic treatments will not do that for her.

What they will do is possibly help with some of her side effects from the chemo….nausea, insomnia, pain. But not treat the cancer.

I am a 7 year cancer survivor thanks to chemo.|||While you take your normal treatment for cancer, let me tell you that cancer is caused because of a lack of stable oxygen in the cellular level. There are two ways of increasing stable oxygen. Breathing deeply as long as you can everyday will increase your oxygen intake. Secondly, try taking cellfood. Go to cellfood website for details.|||The evidence connecting female cancers of the breast, uterus and ovaries with high estrogen levels is growing.

Estrogen%26#039;s job, as seen in the menstrual cycle, is to cause proliferation of the cells in the uterus. Under the influence of estrogen, uterine cells multiply faster, and then progesterone should normally come on the scene with ovulation and stop the cells from multiplying.

Estrogen is the hormone that stimulates cell proliferation, and progesterone is the hormone that stops growth and stimulates ripening.

Female cancers may be caused by estrogen dominance. She can oppose the estrogen by supplementing with the body%26#039;s natural anti-estrogen… progesterone. (This is how Tamoxifen works… by blocking the body%26#039;s natural estrogen. But Tamoxifen is itself causing cancer because it is synthetic.)

* She cannot use progesterone while taking Tamoxifen.|||I have always believed that the mainstream medical industry is not interested in finding a cure for cancer because it makes too much profit with its present barbarous methods.

Eventually, I came across a detailed report which agreed with my findings, and I have included it in my web page at

http://dgwa1.fortunecity.com/body/cancer…

By reading this report, you will also convince yourself that it is best to ignore the mainstream cancer industry, and seek alternative cures. Also you should bear in mind that the medical industry will do anything to protect its profitable position, including disparaging alternative healers or even creating bogus court cases.

I believe that cancer is a whole body thing, which in 80 percent of cases manifests itself by producing symptoms in the weaker parts of the body, and therefore appearing localised. It is this treatment of symptoms instead of cause which creates the profitable, yet non-successful approach of mainstream medicine.

It is therefore obvious that a holistic approach is required, based on cleansing, diet, exercise and debugging.

DIET,

The best diet is vegetarian, avoiding all processed, frozen or micro-waved foods and drinks, and based on fresh fruit, fresh vegetables - preferably organic, nuts and seeds. Drinks should be clean water or freshly squeezed orange juice.

Many researchers promote the benefits of vitamin B17 as a healer. this can be found in the following foods:

Apple seeds, alfalfa sprouts, apricot kernels, bamboo shoots, barley, beet tops, bitter almond, blackberries, boysenberries, brewer’s yeast, brown rice, buckwheat, cashews, cherry kernels, cranberries, currants, fava beans, flax seeds, garbanzo beans, gooseberries, huckleberries, lentils, lima beans, linseed meat, loganberries, macadamia nuts, millet, millet seed, peach kernels, pecans, plum kernels, quince, raspberries, sorghum cane syrup, spinach, sprouts (alfalfa, lentil, mung bean, buckwheat, garbanzo), strawberries, walnuts, watercress, yams.

A commercial preparation of B17 is available called Laetrile.

EXERCISE

Exercise should be sufficient to create a sweat, but not sufficient to make you gasp for breath or feel over-tired. About one hours exercise every day is best.

DEBUGGING

There are various theories about how bugs create cancer.

Hulda Clark suggests that parasites are the cause, and that they can be disposed of by using a zapper.

Cancers have a tendency to recur, which is simply because it is difficult to kill the last cell.

Ovarian cancer recurring after 18months has only one option chemotherapy, after a few cycles , cytoreductive surgery may be tried.

Ayurved is NOT a good option, because there is no proven benefit, the word %26quot;proven benefit%26quot; might mean many a thing- To a child it will mean probably what his parents tell him, to an adoloscent it will mean friends and maybe TV, to someone elder it may mean some magazine/book or some hear-say,…

When I use the word I mean proven advantage in the most scientifically rigourous way, not a one off case,..not hear say,.. not even y own experience, but something that is called as level of evidence, here there is no level of evidence that exists,.. only level 5,.. which is the worst and goes no further down. In oncology level 1 evidence is important.

Anti-cancer drugs are the only thing that helps

I%26#039;m doing a research paper on Ovarian Cancer and need some help. If you had this type of cancer, I would to know anything you would like to share. Thank you|||Ovarian cancer is known as the Silent Killer. It is often referred to this way because its symptoms have nothing to do with the actual diagnosis. These include (but are not limited to): lower back pain, change in appetite, unexplained weight changes, increased abdominal size, constant lack of energy, and nausea. Unfortunately, the diagnosis is often missed… and this results in death.

Having a family history of ovarian cancer increases your risk. Having a first degree relative (mother, sister, etc.) who%26#039;s battled ovarian cancer yields your actual risk of also developing the disease to 5%.

Ovarian cancer generally strikes women around the time of menopause, so childbearing is not the greatest concern.

Good luck on your paper, I hope I%26#039;ve offered at least a little help.

I am 32, history of ovarian cysts, and severe menstrual bleedingthat lasts for 8-10 days. Started having a lot of other issues 2 years ago, like bloating, and other digestive issues. Went to the GI doctor, nothing. All paps have come out normal, but still having painful intercourse, bleeding, and clear discharge with blood in it. I also had bladder surgery a year ago due to incontinence issues, which is starting all over again! On top of that, having lower back pain that doesn%26#039;t go away, and pelvic pain and pressure. The pressure is constant, but the pain comes and goes, unless I have sex with my husband, then I%26#039;m bleeding and sore and miserable for days afterward. Have never been able to use tampons, and also have alternating constipation and diahrea. Was misdiagnosed with PCOS and underwent HRT for a year, am also anemic now. All of this points to ovarian cancer, does it not? So how do I can my GYN to listen to me??? I have 2 autistic kids to take care of, please help!|||Change doctors. You can ask your GYN for a referral to see another doctor for a second opinion. Or you can change doctors on your own.

Ovarian cancer, yes, these are all signs that indicate it. They also indicate other things like Bowel Cancer, or Colorectal Cancer, these are the extreme ofcourse. You can have enometrial cancer, uterine cancer and even cervical cancer even though your paps have all come out ok. They are not 100% accurate all the time and sometimes, the cancer can grow from the inside of the cervix and if the culture didn%26#039;t scrape the area of the cervix or the vaginal wall it wouldn%26#039;t find the cells with cancer. Have you pushed for a CA-125 test? Not that this test gives a diagnosis, but it be used as a guide within the diagnosing process.

Have you had a Laproscopy? I ask because this will allow your doctors to see pretty much everything in this area. They can detect endometriosis and polyps on the outside of the intestines. You have to keep going to the doctor and make them listen. This can also be a very rare form of cancer that they treat as ovarian cancer and I forget the name something like peritineal cancer… don%26#039;t quote me on that. But this shows up with all the signs of ovarian cancer and is even treated the same way, but is in the stomach I think…. it wouldn%26#039;t be detected through a transvaginal ultrasound, but a lap would diagnose it.

I want to say, I am sorry you are going through all of this. Go to a different doctor and ask your PCP to refer you to a different GYN, push for the ultrasound and CA-125 and a Lap because you shouldn%26#039;t have to live like this without finding relief.

God Bless and please please keep going and push… take someone with you if you must and have them advocate for you.

Take Care!|||By all means, make an appointment SPECIFICALLY to look into the possiblity of ovarian cancer. If your gyn-ob will not listen, the go to someone else. You can call another gyn-ob and say point-blank that you are having symptoms that seem consistent with ovarian cancer and want to be checked as quickly as possible. If this isn%26#039;t cancer, then you still want treatment for whatever it is, so be assertive. Remember, the squeaky hinge gets the greasing.|||Gosh, sounds like you are going through alot. I don%26#039;t think it is a matter of having this particular GYN listen to you, its a matter of finding one who WILL. Find another GYN to give you another opinion. Only YOU know your body. Best of luck to you.|||HI DaniLynn

I know of an herbal formula that have helped women with their issues such as yours. Called Female formula and Female balance. Read about on herbdoc.com. This man is a real healer and has plenty of years and testimonials to back it up.

Best of health to you|||These symptoms do not necessarly point to ovarian cancer, but it sure does sound like something. Please see another physician, get a CT scan (not just an ultrasound).

It could be something more mild-like endometriosis, or fibroids-but definitely go see somebody else, and get a clear diagnosis. You are right to be worried.

Best of luck,

MM|||No one would listen to me either. My son was 11 months old and had swollen lymph nodes all over and severe bruising for no reason. Two times they sent him home after looking at his ears nose and throat with antibiotics. I had been looking up these symptoms on the internet and I knew they all pointed towards some sort of lymphotic cancer. I finally had enough, he wasn%26#039;t eating, wasn%26#039;t urinating, wasn%26#039;t playing, he was just laying there whimpering for a week and I took him into the ER and demanded they do a CBC with differentials on him- low and behold an hour after the CBC, the doc came in and told me he had leukemia. A bone marrow aspirate later told us exactly what type. (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). You know yourself, you know your symptoms and you know your fears. Find yourself a different physician or go into an emergency room and tell them your concerns and what your primary physician has to say about it and tell them you want a full work up.

Some of your symptoms do sound bad, but I also know may of those symptoms are also pin pointed to PCOS, so it%26#039;s important to find someone other than your primary OB to take a look.

Or can Kidney cancer spread to the ovaries?

Here%26#039;s the situation. My mother had a CT scan last week and it showed a tumor in one kidney, a cyst in the other kidney and a tumor in one ovary. No indication of exactly what the tumors are, just that they are there. She has a couple appointments this week (one with a urologist and one with a gynocologist) and I guess I%26#039;m just trying to prepare myself for worst/best possible synerios.

I%26#039;ve researched online both of the diseases and haven%26#039;t found anything referenecing ovarian cancer spreading to the kidneys or anything referenicing kidney cancer spreading to the ovaries.

I%26#039;m hoping, best case scenerio, that all are benign and she may have to have a couple surgeriers to remove the tumors . But, I also feel I should prepare for the worst so if it is really bad, I don%26#039;t have a total break down when I will need to help her.

Anyone have any insight? Don%26#039;t be afraid to reply if you think this is not going to have a good outcome.|||Any cancer can spread. Generally, a few cancer cells detach themselves and get into the lymphatic system from which they spread to other areas. That said, your mother%26#039;s tumours could be benign. The doctor will give the worst case scenarios first and then rule them out one by one.

My mom was given a few months to live until they ruled out a whole bunch of anomalous readings. It has been several years and she%26#039;s planning an Alaskan cruise with a friend for May.

Oh, and I%26#039;ve had a tumour in my knee for 28 years. It%26#039;s benign.

Most tumours are benign. I commend you for doing your research so you can be prepared. I wish you both the best.|||yes cancer could spread all threw the body i am very srry but i would go 2 the doctor and i would pray really good so god can heal u|||No, the two aren%26#039;t inter-connected as cancers. HOWEVER, cancer can spread from one part of the body to another, which could link the two. Hopefully it%26#039;s all malignant, but I%26#039;m sorry if it doesn%26#039;t work out right. =[

%26quot;Cancer tumors are called %26quot;malignant%26quot; because they have the ability to invade normal tissues (replacing healthy cells with cancer cells) and to metastasize or spread to other parts of the body. Death from cancer often comes not from the primary site (where the cancer first began) but from the metastases or the spread site. For example, a patient with stomach cancer may actually die from liver failure after the cancer has spread to that organ.

When a certain type of cancer spreads to another part of the body, it does not change its type. For example, if a person with a lymphoma develops a tumor in the lung which is a metastasis (a spread site) from this lymphoma, the tumor growing in the lung has the same characteristics as the lymphoma. It does not represent a new lung cancer of the type which would develop if the cancer was to start in, or to be %26quot;primary%26quot; in the lung. It is important to understand this as the treatment that will be effective against the metastasis will be the same treatment that will be used for the primary lymphoma. This is why it is most important for the doctors treating a patient to be able to establish the primary site at which any cancer orginated.

Cancer Spreading, or Metastases takes place in many ways: through the lymphatic system, through the bloodstream, by spreading through body spaces such as the bronchi or abdominal cavity, or through implantation.

The most common way for cancer to spread is through the lymphatic system. This process is called %26quot;embolization%26quot;. The lymph system has its own channels that circulate throughout the body, similar to the veins and arteries of the bloodstream. These channel are very small and carry a tissue fluid called lymph throughout the body.

Often when a solid tumor is removed by surgery, the surgeon will remove not only the tumor but the neighboring lymph glands, even though there is no visible sign of cancer in those glands. This is done as a precautionary measure, because if even one cell has broken away from the tumor and lodged in the lymphatic system, the cancer could continue growing and spreading.

Cancer can also spread through the bloodstream. Cancer cells, like healthy cells, must have a blood supply in order to live, so all cancer cells have access to the bloodstream. Malignant cells can break off from the tumor and travel through the bloodstream until they find a suitable place to start forming a new tumor. (Tumors almost always spread through the veins rather than through the arteries.) Sarcomas spread through the bloodstream, as do certain types of carcinomas, like carcinoma of the kidneys, testicular carcinoma, and Wilms%26#039; tumor, a type of kidney cancer seen in young children. Cancers may spread by more than one route.

Cancers can also spread by local invasion — that is, by intruding on the healthy tissue that surrounds the tumor. Some cancers that spread this way do not venture very far from the original site. An example of this kind of cancer is basal cell carcinoma of the skin. When this kind of cancer is removed by surgeon, a wide area of healthy tissue surrounding it is also removed and it is usually %26quot;cured%26quot; immediately. Unless some cells have been left behind, it is very unlikely that it will recur. (However, it is possible that a second cancer of the same kind may start to grow at a later time at a completely different site — the new growth having nothing to do with the first.)

A very rare type of metastasis is caused by implantation or inoculation. This can happen accidentally when a biopsy is done or when cancer surgery is performed. In this case malignant cells may actually drip from a needle or an instrument (this is also called a %26quot;spill%26quot;). It is desirable, therefore, if possible and if the cancer is small to remove it completely at the initial surgery — that is at the time of the biopsy.

Cancers do not spread in a completely random fashion. Some parts of the body are more vulnerable to becoming metastatic sites than others. For example cancers rarely metastasize to the skin, but they often metastasize to the liver and lungs. Each type of cancer has its own pattern for metastases. See the individual site discussions for further information.%26quot;

…any ideas why my mom would still have bad abdominal pain 3 months after having surgery for ovarian cancer (stage 3). Brief overview is she had a total hysderectomy, part of her intestines removed, lymph nodes, partical colon removed, etc. The pain is always in the same area. She does have a partial bowel blockage, but is this all cancer related (or did they leave something in!) and if so will the chemo help her with the pain later? She just had her second chemo treatment a few days ago (carboplatnim). Thanks!|||Unfortunately, it sounds normal with the blockage and the recent hysterectomy and other surgeries. Best wishes.|||I%26#039;m not much help, but I had a total hysterectomy in July (not cancer), and I%26#039;m still having pain alot like before surgery. My doctor said it was from moving my insides around like he did and that it should get a little better each month.. Your mother%26#039;s doctor needs to know of this though, as everyone is different.|||Ovarian cancer is often fatal because it is usually advanced when diagnosed. Symptoms are usually absent in early stage and nonspecific in advanced stage. Evaluation usually includes ultrasonography, CT or MRI, and measurement of tumor markers (eg, cancer antigen 125). Diagnosis is by histologic analysis. Staging is surgical. Treatment requires hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, excision of as much involved tissue as possible, and, unless cancer is localized, chemotherapy.

By the time ovarian cancer is diagnosed, it has usually spread beyond the ovaries. There are often no symptoms until late in the disease process. More than half of women who get ovarian cancer are diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease. As with most cancers, the earlier the diagnosis is made, the better the chance for survival.

Complications:-

i don%26#039;t know if this is an yeast infection or signs of cancer. i am only 19 years old, have never had sex, am only 95lbs, not on birth control, ovarian cancer does not run in my family, but i am freaking out because i have vaginal pain and it burns when i use the restroom, also i have diarrhea, but i am eating normally, however i show no signs of abdominal bloating or weight gain. i should mention that i did start my period two weeks early on the ninth which has never happened to me before until then (many said that it was stress related though). i am having panic attacks about something i don%26#039;t even know for sure on, but could someone please help me out and let me know what this could be? thank you!

(and yes im going to see my aunt later because she is a nurse, but i would still appreciate your help very much)|||i think its sounds like a UTI or bladder/kidney infection..and the diarreah is from the stress and panic attacks, i have been having panic attacks for about 7 months now, diarreah is one of the symptoms! your okay its not cancer just go to the doc and get it fixed|||i think you have a urinary tract infection.

there are a few other things they can check/test you for.

but i don%26#039;t think the symptoms sound like ovarian cancer.

then again, i am not an ob/gyn.|||sounds more like a kidney/urinary tract infection or bladder infection. good luck and best wishes.|||go get some antibiotics from your doctor. never seen a patient that has burning sensations and ovarian cancer. the two don%26#039;t go together. bladder/ureteral/uti infections do. drink lots of water. if it has a lot of inching it could be a yeast infection. it takes a simple pee test and you%26#039;re good to go. and then ask him about the panic atakcs. they have pills for that too and he can refer you for some counseling. you%26#039;d be surprised how many people are wandering around wal mart every day on some kind of pill for anxiety/depression.|||Hey don%26#039;t panic! It sure doesn%26#039;t sound like ovarian or whatever cancer. Having a cyst is nothing big really. Just calm down n relax.. like others have said it might be a urinary track infection or yeast infection or something similar. I am sure when you get yourself checked.. it%26#039;ll turn out nothing big and I really hope you get better soon.

Just relax n good luck with doc%26#039;s appt. Take care.|||Hey… sounds like your suffering from urinary infection. Every time you urinate is very painful and a little itchy down there. You need to go to your doctor to start antibiotic immediately. after 4-5 days in antibiotics then the pain will take the pain gradually (i mean lesser).
