k I%26#039;m 24 I have had 3 children. My last son who is 2and a half nursed for his whole first year. SO it%26#039;s been a year and a half since I breast fed and I am still having iregular periods. I was diagnosed with cysts that did not need removed and were not cancerous and one tiny fibroid that was also not cancerous. I stopped my period for two months about 4 months ago. Then I got a 3 day cycle and now I am once again a month late. I do sometimes feel pelvic pain and pressure but not constantly. It comes and goes. My last pap was late July so only a few months back and it came back normal. I had some blood tests I guess the normal stuff done as well. SO yeah I%26#039;m scared I have cancer I haven%26#039;t yet told my doctor all this cause I now do not have Insurance and can not afford to go. Please help by telling me whether or not it sounds like I have ovarian cancre or not.|||It doesn%26#039;t sound like ovarian cancer, however, I am not a doctor. I can tell you from personal experience that when this happened to me I was pregnant. Please try and find a free clinic that offers services for the uninsured. You should see a doctor.|||it doesn%26#039;t matter what I think. get to a Dr. tomorrow.|||No, sounds like you are worrying too much. If every test came back normal, accept that. Not every woman has regular periods, or is pain free during the cycle.|||Sorry about the insurance, but asking a bunch of opinions on Yahoo Answers will not help you. GO TO THE DOCTOR!|||Doesnt seem like cancer. Ovarian cysts will come and go on their own. If you would like to %26#039;regulate%26#039; your periods and help with tempering them…you might try a low dose birth control pill. Consider yourself lucky that you have children and didnt wait. If you had waited and are having irregular periods now, chances would be less to achieve conception. Just go to a planned parenthood clinic for the birth control pills, probably free and free advise also and they may do an exam prior to prescribing birth control pills. You can also go there for regular paps and bloodwork to ease your mind.
:) Good luck and happy parenting! Peace.|||Only the doctor can you tell you this. When you go in ask them to run a CA125-this is the test that will show a marker for ovarian cancer. The marker(range) is from 0 -up in the hundreds. I have this done every year. My reading is 15 and that is a good reading.

I%26#039;%26#039;ve had a hysterectomy(complete). Also if your doctor doesn%26quot;t use it-ask for thin prep- it gives better results. Ovarian cancer-in most-will make your abdomen look like your pregnant(;and your not) and in most there is lower back pain. Do some research on the computer. Please go to the doctor.|||Let me be clear up front. I am not in the medical field, but I did have Uterine cancer which is obviously not the same thing. The only thing I want to correct (or believe to be correct because it is what my OB/GYN oncologist had told me) is that the pap smear is meant to detect cervical cancer. I had just had an all clear on my last pap a month prior to the diagnosis of my uterine cancer which made me question the test. That is when he told me if would have never detected this type of cancer. I wish you the best!

My sister-n-law has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had a pap smear about 2 years ago. Maybe if the CA-125 blood test was part of the normal check-up woman could be diagnosed sooner. And why isn%26#039;t there more information given to women to tell them that a pap smear does not test for ovarian cancer just cervical cancer.|||The CA-125 test is not designed to be a screening test to detect ovarian cancer. I wish we had one. This test is strictly to monitor a patient. It is not a confirmation test either. Diagnostic is strictly on histology/ pathology samples.

The are also a good percentage of Ovarian cancers that do not produce that specific tumor marker.

I am sorry to say this, but right now there is nothing better to screen than a thin- pap test.

I am 20+ year in the medical technology field|||yes..CA125 isn%26#039;t screening test..its follow test for ovarian cancer…

PAP smear is done for CERVIX(upper part of uterus)|||Because it is not a a suitable screening test for ovarian cancer!!

Look at the facts: -

1. Only about 85% of all women with ovarian cancer have raised CA125

2. Only 50% of women with early stage ovarian cancer have raised CA125

3. Women with other conditions can also have raised CA125

So if you did the test and it was negative, you couldn%26#039;t say for definite you DON%26#039;T have it, and if it was postive you couldn%26#039;t say for definite that you DO have it.

So then it%26#039;s just a big fat waste of money, drain on resources, and potentially a cause of unnecessary complacency/worry for patients.

How were you diagnosed with it? Did you have any pain in your vagina that made you go to your gynocologist?

The reason why I ask is because i%26#039;ve had alot of discomfort in my vagina. I am currently being treated for Bacterial Vaginosis and a yeast infection, would this cause the pain?

Im 19 years old, sexually active, with no one in my family whos ever had cervical OR ovarian cancer.

I had my first pap about 3 days ago and it was mortifying. It hurt and it REALLY freaked me out.

I%26#039;ve just been stressing about having cancer, when in reality I probably dont.

I just need some answers, please help.|||You do not have any symptoms when you have cervical/ovarian cancer. You find out through a pap smear. Yes having a pap smear is hell but it%26#039;s very important that you go and get them because that is the only way you can determine if you have cancer and also other things. Cervical cancer is usually the result of having HPV(human papillomavirus) some forms of HPV are sexually transmitted and some are not. But all forms are transmitted by skin to skin contact. There is a vaccine that you can get(Gardasil) that blocks infection with the 4 most common HPV types. You should really look into getting the vaccine if you are worrried about cervical cancer and also because you stated that you are sexually active.

Good Luck to you and I hope this helps.|||It is very unlikely that someone your age would have ovarian cancer, and the pain related to that is more in your abdomen than in your vagina.

A yeast infection would cause the burning sensations and pain you%26#039;re experiencing.|||I had cervical cancer and had ZERO symptoms. I found out when I finally went in for a pap after several years of skipping.

The pain you%26#039;re experiencing might be from the yeast or the BV. If it continues, go back to your doctor; you might have developed a more severe infection called PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder).

Pelvic exams can be uncomfortable and yes, even a bit embarrassing, but they%26#039;re over quickly. And as I can personally attest….THEY CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE! Be faithful about getting them, trust me!|||Pap smears are not very comfortable but they are necessary. Good thing is they only have to be done once a year if they come back normal.

Most cervical caner is caused by certain strains of HPV which is a STD and is does not have any symptoms at all. That your doctor may have also tested you for. Don%26#039;t stress out about having an abnormal pap. That can come from any kind of irratation, STD, or even having sex a few days prior to your pap.

As far as the pain, both BV and a yeast infection could have caused the pain you were experiencing. Take a deep breathe and relax. Its more then likely just a bacterial infection. They can give you some medication and you will be better in a few days.

OVCA WHISPERS so LISTEN

early detection improves survival rates.

pap smear is not enough.bloating, fatigue, indegestion, other gassy feelings. see a DR get a CA125 blood test. its Important!!|||I know that Ovarian is more deadly than breast cancer but that is mostly because there is no test to catch it early.

so If a woman has digestive troubles ,bloating ,tiredness and or other symptoms they should get a full check up and CA125 blood test.|||Bloating, gas, change in bowel movements, fatigue, feeling full whether eating a sandwich or a full meal, sometimes pain.

I know now. Wish I had known sooner. 10 month survivor.

EVERY WOMEN NEEDS TO HAVE A OVARIAN SONOGRAM EACH YEAR, AS WELL AS A MAMMOGRAM. Report It

.irregularity in ur gastric functions….|||some times they symtpoms are left or right lower abdominal pain, strange stool, irregular periods or menepausal symptoms and others do not feel a thing until blood work shows it. Keep you regular yearly check ups and take care of your self|||I know that ovarian cancer can run in families and that the BRCA mutation that makes one more succeptable to breast cancer also does the same for ovarian cancer. the advances in treatment are extending lives but too many women still die from the disease.

If you have any kind of %26#039;mystery%26#039; pains or digestive alergys. as we misinterpret it.get a full gyn exam every 2 years. it is important.

if found in the early stages it is curable but the late stages still have a high death rate… Go Lance A…

everyone get educated on all the diseases that can happen and eat right and take care of your health.

I have been to 2 doctors, complaining of the following symptoms: nausea, lack of appetite, extreme weight loss (I am 75 pounds and I%26#039;m 5%26#039;3%26quot;), uncomfortable feeling in the abdomen, feeling full even if I have a light meal, constipation, diarrea, bloating, gas, sometimes my abdomen seems larger when I have menstrual and non-menstrual cramps, irregular periods, motion sickness. I also cannot wear pants or shorts anymore because the pressure that it puts on my abdomen makes me nauseated, so I only wear loose-fitting dresses.

As for my age, I am 32, no kids. I%26#039;ve had a non-cancerous lump removed from my breast a year ago, and breast and ovarian cancer runs in my family.

As for the doctors, after an encoscopy, one told me that I have a steer stomach (lying on its side instead of the normal upright position), which I don%26#039;t believe. Another wants me to see a psychologist so she can rule out depression.

I am not making these symptoms up and I hate having to live like this. Any suggestions?|||Go to your Gyn and ask for an ultrasound. Give him your family history. He should be able to take it from there. If you don%26#039;t have a Gyn, then get one. If you%26#039;ve been and he ignores you, find another doc. Keep on this until this has definately been ruled out. You probably DON%26#039;T have ovarian cancer, you need to get this checked out.|||go to another doctor you know your own body. Keep trying to find out whats wrong,|||You didn%26#039;t say how much weight you lost over what time period. Your weight alone indicates you are ill. Have you had an eating disorder? You really should be hospitalised at that weight and I%26#039;m surprised your doctors aren%26#039;t doing something about your health given your weight.

There must be more you haven%26#039;t shared with us?|||I%26#039;m not saying that you do not have a problem, but it%26#039;s possible that it is depression. I have anxiety and depression and some of my symptoms include constipation, diarrea, motion sickness and just dealing with the uncomfortableness of being nauseous. Have you tried nausea medication? I tried a few and had trouble, but I now use the generic for Zofran…which is a nausea medication that%26#039;s used for different things. I found it extremely hard to believe last year that my almost daily vomitting was from anxiety because I normally felt fine, well now it%26#039;s something I deal with everyday. It%26#039;s definitely gotten worse with age and I guess increased responsibility. I hope everything works out for you. I would continue and get a second opinion about the possibility of cancer, but I would also read up on depression and anxiety to see if you recognize any of the symptoms.|||Probably no chances…

From your symptoms..it seems that probably you are having IBS.. irritable bowl syndrome. Also it seems you have been investigated, but still need an Ultrasonographic scan of your abdomen, to rule out the genito-urinary pathology .

Since your have been operated for a breast lump and there is family history of breast cancer and ovarian cancer, you need what is called screeing for the oncogenes, in addition to a periodic check up from your family doctor.|||The weight loss is alarming. Have you had a full blood lab recently? You really need to be discussing this with a medical professional who will listen. It is not all in your head, but psychological problems can follow trying to diagnose any problem.

I would suggest following the answer above that suggested an ultrasound of your entire pelvic region. Actually, a trans-rectal ultrasound might show a lot more. There is a reason for the bloating and it could be anything from a pancreatic disorder to a problem with the colon. You need more diagnostic testing to find the solution you are looking for. The bloating would have no connection to ovarian cancer in my studies.

Im 24 years old,and Im bloated with a little back pain, but not sure if I pulled my back. But the symtoms are the same fo pregnant too. My doctors appointment is May 31.Im really scared because it could be ovarian cancer and by the time I get to my doctors appointment it will have spread Im sure. I been feeling like that Im gonna die ever since I had my baby boy|||go to a doctor that can see you ASAP if your that worried about it, how is someone online suppose to diagnose you??|||Why are you waiting till May 31 to be seen. Call your regular doc and ask to be seen sooner.|||sorry but cannot answer, just go to doc asap, you do not provide information as to why you think it would be ovarian cancer either|||Most likely you are fine. You need to stop being such a hypochondriac. You are a young lady and the chance of ovarian cancer is very rare in your age group. The truth is there are very few symptoms with ovarian cancer and I highly doubt that you have it.|||If you have been scared since your son was born, call the nurse at your ObGyn office. You may have some post natal depression or anxiety. While you are talking to the nurse, be sure to mention your cancer fears. Don%26#039;t rely on an online community to diagnose you. Get reliable, professional help.|||ok first take a pregnancy test. then wait to see if you are your menstraiting. Then take it further. Are you a hypochondriac because that could be it as well! I hope and doubt you have cancer the bloating and back pain could be from a number of things! Good luck and I hope everything is ok keep us posted.|||Dear mother of baby boy,

You have done the right thing by scheduling an appointment. I understand what you are going through as my mother had hysterectomy, and she was so scared that she was going to die. It is better to get it diagnised rather than running away from it.

No matter what you do, don%26#039;t think about it, run away, deny the pain it is there. Your body needs to be taken care of. Your body is like the temple, if you care about other people, you should take care of yourself too. Cancer cannot spread that fast.

All I can tell you is, this situation of yours has only one solution. Think positive eat well, sleep well, and think positive. I am sure whatever it is making you worry this much is not as bad as you think to be.

You can take a pregnancey tests by buying a kit from Drug store or any pharmacy. But the only way to test your uterus or ovaries is to visit a Gynecologist. Best of luck. May you have a healthy life, and my prayers of peace, love and healing to you. Think positive, and everything will be fine.|||You need to calm down first off. Did you tell you Dr. office the seriousness you are feeling about this? And be sure if they have a cancellation to call you. Have taken a pregnant test? you could have pulled your back, you could have a kidney infection. I don%26#039;t know how old your son is but e=we all get those feeling they even are there but not all the time when you have one 29 and one 23 and two grandkids and one due in a month, So try not to think the worse because that is not usually what it is. I hope I helped ease your mind a bit. Like I said I have one and she is 29 so she talks to her mom alot still about all these things

My grandmother, who is 83 years old, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer over two years ago. She has been stage 4 once, back to stage 2, and now back to stage 4. She has extreme abdominal swelling and pain (ascites). She had 6 quarts of fluid taken off her stomach 3 weeks ago, and 8 more quarts taken off two days ago. Her stomach has already begun swelling again. She can not take certain types of chemo because her esosphagus has been damaged. She was supposed to get chemo intraveneously yesterday, but the doctor would not allow it because she did not look well enough. My grandparents are old school and do not question the doctor on anything, so we have no idea how long she may have to live. Does anybody have any experience with a prognosis, life expectancy, quality of life? She is a Christian, she is ready to go to the Lord, but she continues to have procedures (parencentesis) done because her husband is not ready to let her go.|||A paracentesis will not make your granmother live longer, it will just make her more comfortable. She can breathe easier and sleep better if the fluid is removed. Problems is it comes back as quickly as it is removed and then creates electrolyte imbalances and literally dehydrates her. Sounds ridiculous, but its true. Most doctors leave the huge amount of fluid there and remove it only to make her comfortable.

Her husband is going to need a lot of support from your family since her days are numbered.

Peace and Gods love to your grandma, grandpa and family.

I am 22 and was just diagnosed with stage II Ovarian Cancer I recently had a tumor bigger than my fist removed along with my left ovary. My CA125 is still over 200, so chemo and radiation is a definite possibility. I am wanting to know what I should expect when it comes to treatment and side effects. Nausea, body aches, you name it… I want to know what comes with it. Thanks a bunch!!|||You want to know what to expect?

Expect to LIVE.

People say to me all the time %26#039;I couldn%26#039;t have fought like you have. I don%26#039;t think I could have taken the treatments and surgeries you have%26#039;

Well, If I would have laid down and expected to die when I was diagnosed 18 years ago, I%26#039;m sure I would be dead by now.

I have been fighting ovarian cancer for 18 years here are a things I have learned.

Think of each treatment as a gift:

No matter how bad you feel, There are so many others that can%26#039;t afford treatment, Think how you would feel about chemo if you COULDN%26#039;T afford treatment. It puts things in a new perspective.

Think of reasons to live:

My biggest reason for fighting so hard to live was, My daughters were 2 and 7 and their dad is a JERK. I wasn%26#039;t going to die so their uncaring father could raise them!

Think Positive Thoughts; Like the little engine that could. You can too.

Remember, no matter HOW bad you may feel from treatments, you%26#039;re still alive. That%26#039;s all that matters. I would rather feel really lousy and see my grandson playing with his Matchbox cars on the floor next to me than deal with the alternative.

Support: Find people who support you, Friends, Family, co-workers. I did not find the kind of support I needed from cancer support groups. You can try them, but I feel it%26#039;s better to lean on your friends and family.

Cancer: Cancer doesn%26#039;t care that you have laundry to do or kids to raise or that you need to walk the dog, do the dishes, or go to work. YOU need to care. YOU need to keep living as normally as possible as soon as you feel the slightest bit able. Getting your life as normal as possible as soon as possible does so much for your psyche.

Side Effects: There is no reason you should have nausea. Speak to your oncologist.

Hair Loss: I shaved my head (5 times) instead of loosing my hair to chemo. I took control of the situation. I cut it.. I didn%26#039;t loose it to Cancer or Chemo. Shaving your hair is empowering. You laugh, you cry but you take control of the situation. It%26#039;s another way of not letting the cancer win.

You name the side effect from chemo, I%26#039;ve probably had it. I%26#039;ve done lots of different chemos over the past 18 years, Side effects go away.. eventually. As long as you still walk this planet, they are all worth it.

Be informed: The more you know about your treatments and your cancer, the more prepared you can be. The more prepared you are, the less scarey things are.

In my mind, the worst thing to happen to my during all the years of chemo was a blood transfusion. I didn%26#039;t really know what it was. I cried and fell apart. After bravely facing all that I had, the blood transfusion scared me the most. Once the treatment was done, I felt like a million bucks! My cheeks were rosy and my nails were pink! I had been scared out of my mind because I wasn%26#039;t informed about what would happen to me. It%26#039;s very taxing to your psyche. Keep yourself informed.

Ask your Doctor. Check online.

Keep the faith, Your God will help you. The power of prayer works. God has not forsaken you. You are stronger than you think. He knows that.

Most of all. Know that there are people that have made it. People like me that are no stronger than you. People that have taken control. People that were at one time, just like you. Just starting out. You can do it!|||I know nothing about this but there should be a wealth of information on the American cancer society%26#039;s website.

Hang in there and stay positive! It will be Okay.|||Sorry, I don%26#039;t really have any information on this. I just wanted to say, sorry you got diagnosed with this, good luck and God Bless!|||ahhh im sorry just have them do a full hysterectomy that way you dont have to worry anymore and you could always adopt|||My Mom had this cancer not long ago, they tried shocking it to kill it, but it did not work so they used surgery|||well be strong and u will get through it

i promise

have a strong heart|||i%26#039;m not sure with your type, but i am going through colon cancer. i took chemo treatments for 6 months and especially toward the end started getting nauseated and run down. i pray for your complete recovery, God bless you|||I%26#039;m very sorry to hear about your situation, I know what I%26#039;m going to say will sound cliché, but It really help me in my life. I suggest that you pray and ask God to give you strength to go truth this, and come back victorious and cancer free.

God bless you.
