Can you get cancer by having a IUD? I%26#039;ve been feeling real bloated lately and very crampy like period cramps. Plus I%26#039;ve been feeling very hungry and binge and end up throwing up cause i ate to much and didn%26#039;t realize it cause all i feel is hunger but already feel full 24/7? whats going on|||go in and ask for a test its called a CA 125 it can give the docs a good indication as to whether you have Ovarian cancer, Do it now , Ovarian cancer sneaks up without a lot of warning its a silent killer , i have it and it did not show up until late stage…Get to the doc!|||rarely|||i too currently have an IUD and have done full research on it before i got it…the only way anything could go wrong (ie cancer or infections) would be if you were unsanitary while having intercourse or your body rejects it (this will be noticed withen the first 2/wk -1/month max of it being inserted) very few women will get anything more then a slight infection so you really dont have anything to worry about if your sanitary and dont have intercourse till atleast 6wk after having it inserted, and when you do try and use the restroom afterwords to %26quot;clean%26quot; yourself. Also if having intercourse withen the first yr if having it if you %26quot;like it rough%26quot; take it easy it will be very easy to tear or push to far in.

your body may be rejectiong it i suggest taking a couple days off your feet to let your muscle relax and let your body heal…how long ago did you have it insert it will also be a factor as well.. i noticed the same simptoms for the first 2 months i had it then they slowly went away your body is bloating because its trying to heal and its realizing that the IUD needs space to %26quot;adjust%26quot;. and the hunger is also because of the bloating just think of it as your internal system is off balance right now…so kick back on the foods even if you feel hungry and take a couple days to recover then in a couple weeks or so if it hasnt gone away then see a doctor.|||I have never heard of someone getting cancer because of their IUD. Is there a chance you could be pregnant? I can happen with an IUD and should be checked right away because of the risk of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.

I hope you call your doctor right away with your concerns! It could be a serious problem!

You can pin-point a diagnosis by guessing at the symptoms.

And despite the not having med insurance…….

do you really wanna put a price on your life?

much love|||you should not be bringing symptoms of this magnitude to yahoo! answers……you need to go to the HOSPITAL or a dr. we cant help you on here.|||This could be cancer - or it could be another ovarian cyst - or anything in between. You need to see a doctor. If you can%26#039;t afford one, go to an ER.

Thanks… laurissa_lala@yahoo.com|||okay before you consider cancer, a more reasonable diagnosis is endometriosis. its where the lining of you uterous escapes and creates smaller cysts in your stomach cavity. you might want to try to get tested whenever you can(a larascapy-spelling- is just a small incision and the look around and thats it.) if they find anything they can take out the worse cysts or you can have a full hysterectomy.

i am being tested for it soon

i also have cysts often.

good luck and dont think the worse

best wishes.|||OMG i dont know about cancers bbut I would be terribly afraid, if I were you, I would start praying, asking god if it%26#039;s spposed to happen, uh and think positive, sounds scary, good luck..

I thought it was very informative and useful.

(Sorry, This is the way it looked after I copied and pasted from the original e-mail .)

SIGNS OF OVARIAN CANCER (even in the absence of Ovaries)

THIS IS A MUST TO READ TO THE END

An Eye Opener on Ovarian Cancer

I hope you all take the time to read

this and pass it on to all you can. Send this to the women in

your life that you care about.

Years ago, Gilda Radner died of ovarian

cancer. Her symptoms were inconclusive, and she was treated for

everything under the sun until it was too late. This blood test

finally

identified her illness but alas, too late. She wrote a book to

heighten

awareness. Gene Wilder is her widower.

KATHY%26#039;S STORY: this is the story of

Kathy West

As all of you know, I have Primary

Peritoneal Cancer. This cancer has only recently been identified

as its OWN type of cancer, but it is essentially Ovarian Cancer.

Both types of cancer are diagnosed in

the same way, with the %26quot;tumor marker%26quot; CA-125 BLOOD TEST, and

they are

treated in the same way - surgery to remove the primary tumor

and then chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatin.

Having gone through this ordeal, I want

to save others from the same fate . That is why I am sending

this message to you and hope you will print it and give it or

send it via E-mail to everybody you know.

One thing I have learned is that each of

us must take TOTAL responsibility for our own health care. I

thought I had done that because I always had an annual physical and PAP

smear, did %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; a monthly Self-Breast Exam, went to the dentist at

%26gt;%26gt; least twice a year,

etc. I even insisted on a sigmoidoscopy and a bone density test

%26gt;%26gt; last %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; year. When I had a total hysterectomy in 1993, I thought

%26gt;%26gt; that I did not have to worry about getting any of the female

reproductive organ cancers.

LITTLE DID I KNOW. I don%26#039;t have ovaries

(and they were HEALTHY when they were removed), but I have what

is essentially ovarian cancer. Strange, isn%26#039;t it?

These are just SOME of the things our

Doctors never tell us: ONE out of every 55 women will get

OVARIAN or PRIMARY PERITONEAL CANCER.

The %26quot;CLASSIC%26quot; symptoms are an ABDOMEN

that rather SUDDENLY ENLARGES and CONSTIPATION and/or DIARRHEA.

I had these classic symptoms and went to

the doctor. Because these symptoms seemed to be %26quot;abdominal%26quot;, I

went to a gastroenterologist. He ran tests that were designed to determine

whether %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; there was a bacteria infection; these tests were

%26gt;%26gt; negative, and I was %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; diagnosed with %26quot;Irritable Bowel Syndrome%26quot;. I

%26gt;%26gt; guess I would have accepted

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; this diagnosis had it not been for my enlarged abdomen. I swear

to

%26gt;%26gt; you,

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; it looked like I was 4-5 months pregnant! I therefore insisted

on

%26gt; more

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; tests

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; They took an X-ray of my abdomen; it was

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; negative. I was again assured that I had Irritable Bowel

%26gt;%26gt; Syndrome

%26gt;%26gt; and

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; was encouraged to go on my scheduled month-long trip to Europe.

I

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; couldn%26#039;t wear any of my slacks or shorts because I couldn%26#039;t get

them

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; buttoned, and I KNEW something was radically wrong. I INSISTED

on

%26gt; more

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; tests, and they reluctantly) scheduled me for a CT-Scan (just to

%26gt;%26gt; shut

%26gt;%26gt; me

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; up, I think). This is what I mean by %26quot;taking charge of our own

%26gt;%26gt; health

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; care.%26quot;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; The CT-Scan showed a lot of fluid in my

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; abdomen (NOT normal). Needless to say, I had to cancel my trip

and

%26gt;%26gt; have

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; FIVE POUNDS of fluid drawn off at the hospital (not a pleasant

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; experience I assure you), but NOTHING compared to what was ahead

of

%26gt;%26gt; me.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Tests revealed cancer cells in the

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; fluid. Finally, finally, finally, the doctor ran a CA-125 blood

%26gt;%26gt; test,

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; and I was properly diagnosed.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; I HAD THE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS FOR OVARIAN

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; CANCER, AND YET THIS SIMPLE CA-125 BLOOD TEST HAD NEVER BEEN RUN

ON

%26gt;%26gt; ME,

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; not as part of my annual physical exam and not when I was

%26gt; symptomatic.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; This is an inexpensive and simple blood test!

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FEMALE

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; FRIENDS AND RELATIVES TO INSIST ON A CA-125 BLOOD TEST EVERY

%26gt;%26gt; YEAR AS %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; PART OF THEIR ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAMS. %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Be fore warned that their doctors might

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; try to talk them out of it, saying, %26quot;IT ISN%26#039;T NECESSARY.%26quot;

Believe

%26gt;%26gt; me,

%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; had I known then what I know now, we would have caught my cancer

%26gt;%26gt; much

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; earlier (before it was a stage 3 cancer). Insist on the CA-125

BLOOD

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; TEST; DO NOT take %26quot;NO%26quot; for an answer!

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; The normal range for a CA-125 BLOOD TEST

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; is between zero and 35. MINE WAS 754. (That%26#039;s right, 754!). If

the

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; number is slightly above 35, you can have another done in three

or

%26gt; six

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; months and keep a close eye on it, just as women do when they

%26gt;%26gt; have %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; fibroid tumors or when men have a slightly elevated PSA

%26gt;%26gt; test (Prostatic %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Specific Antigens) that helps diagnose prostate

%26gt;%26gt; cancer. %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Having the CA-125 test done annually can

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; alert you early, and that%26#039;s the goal in diagnosing any type of

%26gt;%26gt; cancer

%26gt;%26gt; -

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; catching it early.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Do you know 55 women? If so, at least

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; one of them will have this VERY AGGRESSIVE cancer. Please, go to

%26gt;%26gt; your

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; doctor and insist on a CA-125 test and have one EVERY YEAR for

the

%26gt;%26gt; rest

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; of your life.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; And forward this message to every woman

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; you know, and tell all of your female family members and

friends.

%26gt;%26gt; Though

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; the median age for this cancer is 56, (and, guess what, I%26#039;m

exactly

%26gt;%26gt; 56),

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; women as young as 22 have it. Age is no factor.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; A NOTE FROM THE RN:

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Well , after reading this, I made some

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; calls. I found that the CA-125 test is an ovarian screening test

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; equivalent to a man%26#039;s PSA test prostate screen (which my

husband%26#039;s

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; doctor automatically gives him in his physical each year and

%26gt; insurance

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; pays for it). I called the general practitioner%26#039;s office about

%26gt;%26gt; having

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; the test done. The nurse had never heard of it. She told me that

she

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; doubted that insurance would pay for it. So I called Prudential

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Insurance Co, and got the same response. Never heard of it - it

%26gt;%26gt; won%26#039;t

%26gt;%26gt; be

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; covered.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; I explained that it was the same as the

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; PSA test they had paid for my husband for years. After

conferring

%26gt; with

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; whomever they confer with, she told me that the CA-125 would be

%26gt;%26gt; covered. %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; It is $75 in a GP%26#039;s office and $125 at

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; the GYN%26#039;s. This is a screening test that should be required just

%26gt;%26gt; like

%26gt;%26gt; a

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; PAP smear (a PAP smear cannot detect problems with your

ovaries).

%26gt;%26gt; And

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; you must insist that your insurance company pay for it.

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Gene Wilder and Pierce Brosnan (his wife

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; had it, too) are lobbying for women%26#039;s health issues, saying that

%26gt;%26gt; this

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; test should be required in our physicals, just like the PAP and

the

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; mammogram. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO SEND THIS OUT TO ALL THOSE

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

%26gt;%26gt; %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

And the symptoms you say are not necessarily indicating a malignancy. Seems you are in a trouble, you have suffered much. You can tell me more about your condition, and tell me what kind of cyst was removed.

and is cancerous. I got not sypmtoms ar first and will be seeing my doctor in Monday for treatment of this. Thend i started getting back pain lower, cramps without a period, bloating, hardly any appititte, bleeding that is inside of me as I had an internal on Monday this week that is coming from high up. Indigestion that I put down to heart attacks or heart problems, irregular periods I put down to menopuse or pre, but when I had a hormone test it was normal, blood in the urine which I put down to infection, then I had it cheacked and there is not infection but had blood in it. My cramping is worse some days than others, and so is my back, the cancer nurses today told me all this is normal with cancer of the overies, but what I want to know is this why have a got an offencive odour coming from inside of me that is NOT going away. No I do not have an infection as I have been cheked for all of this, and why did I get a shart stabbing pain near my kidney about 1 hour ago that lasted for|||gosh i am so sorry. i responded to your other question when you were not sure. you should go to an emergency room or ring a cancer support group they would have heaps of helpful info.

You might have gas or intestinal aches from the mass causing your bowels to have trouble passing stool.

my stomach that feels like a period without a period, bloating, bleeding in my urine(no infection as I had that checked) indigestion as when I eat sometimes I get chest pain that feels like I have heart problems but do not, I do not get hungry much anymore, and now I would like to know why I am getting an offencive odour coming from inside of me, and i got a sharp stgabbing pain near my kidneys about 1 hour ago. So please help me, why am I having this offencive odour that is NOT going away at all? I heard it is all part of the cancer. I have no urine infection or any infection as I got checked for that. I have blood in my urine which is part of the cancer too, but I need to know exactly why I am getting this offencive odour, please help if you can.|||Have you called your doctor and asked what was going on with you? What happens if you are pregnant and find out you have cervical cancer.. Will they recommend you to abort the child|||Well I would hope not But if it will harm the baby and mother then I guess thats the only choice.. :(|||I depends on how far along you are. If you are still early into the pregnancy, they will probably recommend a medical abortion as they cannot treat you without harming the baby. If you are into your second trimester and they feel they can hold off for a couple of months before treating you they may try to save the baby. It all really depends on how severe the cancer and how long until the due date.|||Cervical cancer, the kind caused by HPV, is very slow- growing. It is unlikely that you would have developed cervical cancer if you have been getting your regular paps. Most women have the HPV virus, don%26#039;t worry if you just found out. The body usually handles it just fine.|||some docs do recommend but i%26#039;ve heard of many woman %26quot;losing%26quot; it with birth. I don%26#039;t know how it works, but I know it does.|||I would hope not…do you have some problems that you need to have checked?

I know that some other cervical issues recommend Cesarian, I don%26#039;t THINK you can pass cancer to the child through childbirth. I would hope that, no matter what, they would operate on the cancer, and hope for you to be well.

Good luck to you!

she%26#039;s on morphine 2mg/hr.i was wondering why her mind seems to be going so fast,could it be nutrition she hardly eats and no electrolites or is it the cancer or the dying process or what I want her MIND back before she goes please help|||Its the amount of morphine. I promise you though, from very personal first hand experience (you can look through my previous stuff to get the details) that on some level, she knows EVERYTHING that is going on around her. I bet on some level she responds to you when you talk to her or touch her. It may be small, but she will respond. If there are still brain waves, she knows. If you want her mind back, you would need to stop the morphine and look at other pain meds such as thc. And ultimatly it may not be that she is in that much pain now, but she will be when she dies. SHe will ultimatly die from drug overdose from the morphine (the toxicity build up.. drug od or kindey/liver failure) or cardiac arrest or suffocation because the narcotics have depressed the nervous system so much that the heart stops and/or her lungs stop.

HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT. What has your sister expressed about end of life issues? What she wants is most important and if this is the care she has expressed wanting, then you have no right messing with it.|||Hi, I%26#039;m sorry that%26#039;s happening to you and your sister.

I%26#039;m not sure but I was on morphine once for pain, only for one day and I remember that people were talking to me but I couldn%26#039;t really focus on what they were saying, I just kept wanting to look out the window. So it might just be the drugs.|||i%26#039;m so sorry to hear of your sister. i don%26#039;t think anyone in yahoo could answer your questions - she may be leaving - question her doctors. they won%26#039;t know everything, but may be able to help with her consciousness. the problem may be the pain they don%26#039;t want her ( and you don%26#039;t want her) to have. all you may be able to do is let your sister know by touching her is that you are there and you love her. it%26#039;s a basic need that she may feel in spite of the medications. we can hope, this happened with my mother. i hope for you both.|||Both the disease process and the morphine are doing this. She can hear you, though she may not be able to respond.

A couple of years back I lost my mum to breast cancer. A couple of years before that, my aunt was diagnosed with it (although she managed to survive)… I am concerned that I may be susuptible to it, and because I%26#039;m underage (17), I can%26#039;t get a breast exam from a professional… I%26#039;m even more concerned because my periods have been really irregular lately. (Like, I%26#039;d have one one month, skip a month and then start again, but it would last for a week, when typically it would last only 3 or 4 days. I started when I was 11, so periods should be pretty regular by this point in time, right?)

Thanks in advance.

-Sierra-|||I%26#039;m very sorry to hear about your mum.

When you go for your annual physical, mention to your doctor your concerns. You aren%26#039;t at high risk at this age but if having regular exams will give you peace of mind they will likely oblige. Until then make sure you do monthly breast exams, check for lumps and note any discharge.

The trouble with ovarian cancer is that there often aren%26#039;t any symptoms. Abdominal pain, bloating and unexplained weight gain or loss can be symptoms, but not necessarily.

Your irregular periods are more than likely NOT a symptom of ovarian cancer. Keep in mind that your cycles will change at various times throughout your life. Honestly, I went through the same thing when I was about your age. (Skipped cycles, long cycles, short cycles…) Eventually it went back to a %26quot;new normal%26quot; where my cycles were longer.|||i am sorry about your mom lost may she rest in peace. here are some symptoms of breast cancer..

A spontaneous clear or bloody discharge from your nipple, often associated with a breast lump

Retraction or indentation of your nipple

A change in the size or contours of your breast

Any flattening or indentation of the skin over your breast

Redness or pitting of the skin over your breast, like the skin of an orange

ovarian cancer symptoms

There are few clear symptoms of ovarian cancer. Typically it can cause pain in the abdomen, a feeling of being bloated, fatigue, weight loss, or problems with urination. However, these can all be caused by a number of other diseases. This makes it difficult to diagnose ovarian cancer by symptoms alone.|||Lots of things can change a womans period. Stressful events can trigger a change.

Because your mom died from breast cancer you are at a slightly higher risk for POSSIBLY developing breast cancer. You are very young and RARELY do women under the age of 35 develop breast cancer.

Signs would be a lump in or around your breast tissue. Nipple discharge, skin changes on the breast such as scaling, dimpling, peeling…

You can perform your own breast exam…just google it and it will show you how. This is the most common way that breast cancer is found, a self breast exam.|||You need to speak with your parent (father?) or guardian about seeing a doctor. Then speak to the doctor about an exam. You are not too young for an exam. All of these things should be resolved with your doctor.|||Im sorry about your mum,sweety.

I think you must calm down and go every year to the gynecologist for the regular exams. Tell about the history of your mum and your aunt.

About your periods, could be for stress,but ask to your doctor.

I wish you the best.|||Do u know more details about breast/ovarian cancer pls visit this site u will get answer
